LIGHT WELD197-M SERIES
FLEXIBLE WATER-RESISTANT ADHESIVES
DESCRIPTION
Light Weld 197-M Series are flexible UV curing medical device adhesives that form durable bonds between polycarbonate and variety of plastics. These NVP-free adhesives are USP Class VI certified and their flexibility provide shock absorbing characteristics in the bond area. For a complete list of applications and substrates, please see the Dymax MD® products selector guide or call the Dymax Technical Center.

BIOCOMPATIBILITY AND STERILIZATION
SME Technical Paper #AS91-397, 1991 advises that "All adhesives are toxic in their raw or uncured state. Complete cure is required to retain Class VI certification status." It is recommended that biocompatibility testing of the completed device be done following sterilization to eliminate the effects of minor process variations and contamination during assembly. The sterilization methods of choice are gamma irradiation, ethylene oxide and electron beam sterilization. Sterilization by autoclaving may be limited by certain applications. Laboratory data indicates that gamma irradiation cures Dymax adhesives.
STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE
Do not expose to UV light source or sunlight. Light Weld 197-M series should be stored in a warm area 24C in the dark when not in use. Should product cool below 18C, it may begin to crystallize and thicken. If this should occur, nominal viscosity can be restored by gentle warming at 38 to 49C with occasional stirring. This "freeze"/melt process has no effect on the product's properties. Light Weld 197-M series has a one year minimum shelf life when stored as above stated.
CAUTION
For industrial use only. Avoid breathing vapors. Avoid contact with eyes and clothing. In case of contact, immediately flush with water for at least 15 minutes; for eyes, get medical attention. Wash clothing before reuse. Keep out of reach of children. Do not take internally. If swallowed, vomiting should be induced at once and a physician called. For specific information, refer to the product Material Safety Data Sheet before use.
NOTES
[1]Do not recommend lamps that emit high levels of shortwave light (for example, more than 15% 200-300 nanometer UV light).
[2]Nominal intensity taken at a pre-determined distance. This reading does not reflect the maximum intensity capabilities emitted from each unit.
