Fitting Instructions (Ver 1.4)

RocSPEED
16v Cold Air Induction Kit

Fitting instructions (ver 1.4)

You will need, at least: 1 x flat blade screwdriver, 1 x socket set, some tape.

1: Remove cold air kit from packaging. You should see:

1 x 90 degree bend

2 x Couplers

1 x Straight pipe

1 x Air Filter Cone

3 x Large Cable Ties

2: Open bonnet, and look for the air intake assembly.

3: Undo all the bolts retaining the air intake pipe from the front of the engine to the air box, and loosen the clip holding it to the air box.

4: Remove the intake pipe completely.

5: Undo the nuts fixing the air box down, you will find these on either side of the box.

6: Remove the air box upwards, you will also need to loosen the rear pipe clip to do this and pull out the electrical connections. There is also a small vacuum pipe attached, remove this and tuck it away somewhere. It is not critical for this to have filtered air, you can place a small breather filter on it if you wish.

7: Once the air box is removed, unclip the lid and remove. You will see the Air Meter Unit (MAF), this needs to be removed from the air box by removing the two bolts and pulling it out. You will also need to unscrew the Air Temperature sensor. The MAF is delicate, be very careful with it.

8: Attach the smaller of the two rubber connectors to the Air Meter Unit. Insert the Air Temperature Sensor into the 90 deg bend pipe, you may need to wrap a little tape, around the threads to make it a snug fit. It should look like the pic below: (note: the sensor now fits in a hole on the side not a small tube)

Make sure the Air Flow Meter is facing the correct way, with the grid facing the front of the engine bay.

10: Replace this assembly back into the black hose bend coming from the throttle body on the engine. Replace the electrical plugs to the air flow meter and temperature sender.

11: Attach the straight pipe to the filter, you are best to push the pipe in around 1 cm, no further. Make sure the jubilee clip has a firm grip on it doesn’t fall off in service, and install this assembly onto the lower connection.

12: 10: Use the cable ties to attach the CAI tubes to an available place in the engine bay, there are many places you could use, so feel free to take your pick.

.

13: For best performance, keep the pipe as long as possible. If you are concerned about water ingress, etc, you may adjust the length using the centre connection and the air filter itself, pushing it further onto the lower pipe, as required.

14: Check all connections for tightness and air leaks. Make sure the pipes cannot come apart in use (use a spanner). Make sure the air flow meter electrical plug is reattached.

15: Start your engine. All being well the car will run correctly, although you may find the idle is a little off until you have taken the car for a run.

Job done!

16: Enjoy the extra power and sound of your new intake. Do not drive through floodwater! If stuck near deep water, remove the intake at the centre coupler. You may place the filter on the down bend itself, but expect far less performance.

Remember to check the clamps periodically to make sure your CAI doesn’t fall off. If it does, don’t say you weren’t warned ;-)

CAI’s and deep water do NOT mix, submerge your filter, kill your engine!
