Fingerspelling/Numbers

FIRST TWO CREDIT HOURS

Course Purpose: The purpose of this course is to enhance receptive abilities with fingerspelling and numbers. Some expressive work is required.

Course Evaluation:

Completed Hours in a timely manner…..……………..….55%

DVDs:All DVDs required for this course are in the ASL lab.

Meetings: Each student must meet with the professor of record for this course NO LESS than once each month beginning in February with the final meeting in April. Each student must bring his/her work that he/she has completed to that point. It is the responsibility of each student to contact the professor to schedule the meeting dates.

Hour Requirements:

1 credit hour……………………………………………..22.5 clock hours

2 credit hours……………………………………………45.0 clock hours

3 credit hours……………………………………………67.5 clock hours

If a student is behind by more than 3 hours during the semester then the student will be dropped from the course. The student is responsible for filling out the necessary paperwork.

Pre/Post Test: Prior to beginning the first credit hour students must take a pre-test and then after completion of ALL three credit hours students must take a post-test. (See Larry to obtain the tests)

Additional Information: All students must sign in on the correct sheet when they use the lab. Failure to sign in on the correct sheet will result in loss of hours. . In addition, the student must email the professor of record by 5:00 p.m. every Friday indicating the total number of hours worked in the lab for that week.

All students must begin with Joyce Linden Groode’s DVD if this is their first hour of fingerspelling.

Emails: Students must include the following in each email:

-week the work was done (ex.: Feb 1-7)

-number of credit hours for the semester

-required number of hours per week

-total number of hours for the week

-total number of hours earned so far

-how many hours you may be behind or indicate “on track”

Example: I am taking 1 credit hour; I am required to be in the lab 1.5 hours per week; I earned 2 hours this week; I am not behind OR I am 1.5 hours behind; my total hours so far are 21.75

We will have a mandatory meeting on Friday April 27th at 3:30 ALL hours must be completed by Friday, April 27th.
