Computer Science Curriculum Planner

Instructions

Use the planner on the reverse side to plan this year and rest of the degree, and check it meets the requirements.

For the Computer Science Major, tick the appropriate columns to indicate: if the course has already been passed successfully in a previous year (Done); is being taken in 2018 (‘18); or will be done in a future year (ToDo).

Tick the appropriate columns for your 2nd major. If you are doing a major that isn’t listed, write the name of the major in the bottom right block and write in all the courses codes that aren’t listed in the Computer Science block.

Write the course codes of all electives courses taken or to be taken in your degree in the Elective Courses block.

Add up the HEQSF credits and course credits columns for your majors and electives. Then write those numbers into the Overview table and add once again to check that your plan meets the faculty's requirements.

When you are done, you will have filled out all 3 LHS blocks and only one RHS block.

When you are happy with your plan, enter the current year's courses on the Curriculum Form.

Important Notes

If more than two full year Science courses are replaced with electives from another faculty, then the further electives must form part of a hierarchical sequence linked to those already completed.

In general, only 18+ credit courses count. For transfer credit rules, see the back of the Science handbook.

INF2006F (Decision Support Systems) is a few weeks in the 2nd quarter only, and can be taken by anyone, not just Business Computing majors. This course is an exception to the 18-credit rule.

If you have not passed MAM1000W/MAM1006H you must take Mathematics this year.
NB: MAM1004F and MAM1008S are recommended for CS students who aren’t continuing to MAM2.

You MAY ONLY register for 3 full course credits (6 half courses) in any year after your first year.

From 2018 the prac test is no longer part of CSC2002S.CSC2004Z must be taken if you haven’t passed CSC2002S already: this is just the pass/fail 3-hour prac test. You can sit the prac test in either or both semesters.

Games Design: CSC3022H & CSC3020H alternate daily to fill 3rd period (no clash).

Comp Eng 3: EEE3095S & CSC3022H now replace EEE3078W. EEE2040F & EEE2026S were replaced by EEE2050F & EEE2049W. If you passed 2040F (24 credits) or 2026S (20 credits) enter these instead in those rows.

Comp Eng 2: EEE2050F clashes with INF2009F: we recommend doing EEE2050F in 3rd year. CS3 + EEE3 make 144 HEQF credits, so 2nd year is 5 half-courses: CS2001F, CS2002S, EEE2049W, INF2009F and 1 other (if ‘other’ is a senior half-course like INF2011S/CSC2003S/STA2030S you have an alternative to EEE in 3rd year if needed)

Business Computing: Business Computing requires 9.5 courses (or take CSC3022H if you are in your 4th year).
