We will expand our knowledge of how American symbols and patriotic activities reflect the shared values, principles and beliefs of Americans. We will also discuss how diversity and respect for others help make America a great place to live.
MATH
Next week in math we will continue to work on Chapter 8. We will be using place value to understand properties of operations to add and subtract. We will be doing this by: subtracting and adding tens, using a hundred chart to count on by ones and tens, using models to help add ones and tens to a two-digit number, and making a ten to help add a two-digit number and a one digit number. Overall, students are doing much better on their fluency fact test! We all can beat the timer when it is set for 10 minutes! Next week our goal is 8 minutes or less. One student completed the test in 40 seconds!
SCIENCE
Due to the snow days and 2-hour delays, we will continue to read and discuss topics in our "Science Studies Weekly Adventure" magazines. The topics will be homes and families. After this, we will learn more about physical science by investigating heat and light.

If you would like a conference and have not returned your paper, there is still time! Please send it in as soon as possible. We would like to meet with as many parents as possible.
