Dear Parents,

Firelands High School will delay the start of the school day beginning March 16th through March 20th for the administration of the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT).All sophomore students, and juniors/seniors notified by the school counseling office, will take the OGT beginning the week of March 16th and must report to school at 7:20 a.m. Remaining students will report two and a half hours later at 9:50 a.m. Please note that students who are slated to take the OGT must pass all five parts of the test to be eligible for a diploma. These tests ARE NOT related to the PARCC or AIR tests that ninth graders are currently taking, in accordance with House Bill 487.

The weekly schedule is printed on the back-side of this letter.

ONLY REGULAR BUS RUNS will be made during this testing week. Students who wish to arrive later must arrange their own transportation to school. Any student who arrives at the normal bus time (7:15 a.m.) or before 9:50 a.m. will be provided a supervised study hall.

School will dismiss at the regular time of 2:30 p.m., with the normal bus schedule.

Your student is required to be at the high school, and in their test room by 7:25 a.m., with two number 2 pencils (mechanical pencils and pens are not permitted). You cannot bring food and drink to the testing room. No electronic devices are permitted into the testing area including cell phones, PDAs, MP3s, iPods, and non-OGT calculators.

The teachers have worked hard in preparing our students for these tests. Please make sure they get a good night’s sleep and breakfast each morning. The testing schedule is as follows:

Friday March 20th – Social Studies
