Radnor Fire Company (RFC), located in Wayne, PA, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Full-time and Part-time Firefighter/EMT. Founded in 1906, Radnor Fire Company provides fire and emergency medical services to the residents of Radnor and TredyffrinTownships. Our 60 volunteers and six full-time employees take great pride in being a positive and progressive organization.
SUMMARY:
The successful applicant will report to the Administrative Director. The ability to work as part of a team on a daily basis and a commitment to the goals and policies set forth by Board of Directors and Chief’s Office will all be highly valued in selecting the Firefighter/EMT.
The anticipated start date of all new hires will be November, 2009. RFC offers an excellent salary rate for Full-time and Part-time employees. A comprehensive benefits package is provided for all Full-timeemployees.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Firefighter/EMT position is a professional first responder role. The following are primary duties and responsibilities:
- Provide protection to life and property by responding to fire emergencies, alarms, accidents or calls for service by functioning as a firefighter, EMT, driver, and/or pump operator.
- Provide emergency medical treatment to victims of accidents and illness and by providing safe and efficient transportation as required.
- Be familiar with all fire apparatus, ambulances and with the Standard Operating Guidelines, rules and regulations of Radnor Fire Company.
- Assist with fire prevention duties and special details as assigned while on duty.
- While not performing in the role of a Firefighter/EMT, employees shall carry out other duties including operational readiness, care, and maintenance of all fire apparatus, ambulances, and equipment carried on each vehicle. Employees shall be responsible for building maintenance, light custodial duties, and other duties assigned by the Administrative Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty as previously outlined. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully serve as a Firefighter/EMT:
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License for Class ‘B’ vehicles. (or must obtain within 6 months of hire date.)
- Firefighter I (NFPA 1001)
- Firefighter II (NFPA 1001)
- Current Pennsylvania state certifications as an Emergency Medical Technician
- Current Health Care Provider CPR/AED Card
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC)
- Pump Operations I
- Basic Vehicle Rescue Technician
- Hazardous Materials Operations (NFPA 472)
- NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED Equivalency; (Associates degree or higher preferred)
- 2 years experience as primary care provider in 9-1-1 EMS setting
- 2 years experience driving ambulances and fire apparatus in 9-1-1 setting
- 3 references from previous employment will be weighed heavily.
SALARY INFORMATION:
- Starting salary range: $16.00 - $19.00*
* Salary rate is negotiable commensurate with years of experience, certification, and training.

The Radnor Fire Company requires a pre-duty drug test, medical examination, psychological test, and a background check to be administered to all applicantswho have received a conditional offer of employment, which will be paid for by the Radnor Fire Company.
