NOTE: Each position within this classification may be required to possess all or some of these knowledge, skills or abilities.

Knowledge, Skill, Ability

Knowledge of:
K1.  / Knowledge of the materials, methods and procedures to effectively determine the proper installation of electrical systems in various site and building construction projects.
K2.  / Knowledge of the rules and regulations (e.g., California Code of Regulations, Title 24, California Electrical and Fire Codes, Electrical Safety Orders of the Division of Occupational Safety and Health, Overhead Line Construction of the Public Utilities Commission, etc.) in order to verify work projects are in compliance.
K3.  / Knowledge of the methods and procedures for testing the performance of electrical systems in buildings to ensure electrical work is safely installed and free from defects.
K4.  / Knowledge of the electrical service requirements of the public and/or private utilities servicing the area as they relate in the installation of electrical systems relating to site and building construction projects.
K5.  / Knowledge of the principles of effective supervision.
K6.  / Knowledge of computer software (e.g., Microsoft Window software) to prepare correspondence and reports.
K7.  / Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques to identify and address issues that may arise on the construction project.
K8.  / Knowledge of the proper installation methods of electrical work that coincides with various building trades.
Skill to:

S1. 

/ Skill to read and understand the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, California Electrical and Fire Codes in order to interpret, explain and apply.
S2.  / Skill to visually inspect construction sites and workmanship to determine quality of electrical construction.
Ability to:

/ Ability to read and write English at a level required for safe and successful job performance.

/ Ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely in both written and oral form with a variety of audience (e.g., tenants, contractors, management, etc.) for the safe and successful completion of projects.

/ Ability to explain appropriate construction codes, plans, specifications and standards to construction personnel for the successful completion of projects.
A4.  / Ability to estimate material quantities and/or percentages for various stages of electrical installations.
A5.  / Ability to detect deviations from plans and specifications by inspection of electrical installations to ensure compliance with various construction contract documents.
A6.  / Ability to observe the work activities of various construction personnel as necessary in order to ensure compliance with various contract documents.
A7.  / Ability to operate a personal computer in order to prepare reports and correspondence.
A8.  / Ability to prepare correspondence and reports to document the progress and activities concerning the electrical installation.
A9.  / Ability to facilitate information related to work assignments to various construction personnel to ensure compliance with various contract documents.
A10.  / Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and construction personnel.
A11.  / Ability to work in various environments such as noisy spaces, inclement weather and/or uneven ground surfaces, etc. for extended periods of time in order to visually inspect electrical projects.
A12.  A / Ability to climb ladders in order to accomplish inspection tasks.
A13.  / Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in order to accomplish inspection tasks.
A14.  / Ability to bend, stoop, squat, grasp, pull, stand, sit, and twist for extended periods of time in order to accomplish inspection tasks.
A15.  / Ability to use a digital camera in order to take photographs of progression of electrical inspection tasks.
A16.  / Ability to safely and lawfully operate various state vehicles in order to conduct State business.
A17.  / Ability to work under the pressure of tight timelines when completing projects or assignments.
