Saturday – Clinic – Using cadaver limbs, Shayne will discuss shape, distortion, and shoe fit. We will then boil them out and examine the coffin bones. In the afternoon, Shayne will evaluate and shoe a horse. Contest shoes will be discussed.
Sunday – Match Play Contest – Open Judging – Hands On Clinic*
Each competitor number is put in a hat and pairs are drawn to compete against each other. The winner of each pair moves to the next bracket, the eliminated competitors draw for a hands on session with Shayne while the next bracket of competition takes place. This repeats until the final round of 3-5 competitors are left for final bracket of match play.

Bracket #3 – 1 Front Saddlebred shoe fullered 3/8 x 1 – 25 min
Bracket #4 – 1 Front French Trotting shoe 1 ¼ x ¼ - 30 min
Match Play Pay out - $500 plus 50% of Entries – In addition the winner receives: Buckle and Name Plaque on The Isaac Sharp Memorial Perpetual Trophy

* WHAT IS MATCH PLAY?
Judge has designated ahead of time 4 different styles of shoes, called “brackets.” For Jay’s clinic, there’ll be four; see list and descriptions.
Everybody pulls a number out of a hat. Another person will pull that same number out of the hat, he becomes your partner, you pair up and compete against each other. In OPEN JUDGING, judge will sit at open table talking about what he sees, all persons can listen and hear about strengths or where to improve.
Winner of first round picks number out of hat again and moves onto next round with new partner, winner of that moves to next round until all four styles of shoes have been made. If one person anywhere along the line has no partner, he automatically moves to next round.
We go to top 3 or top 5 contestants for the last round.
BONUS HANDS ON:
Each person eliminated picks a number out of a hat, winner gets one on one hands on with judge, everyone can watch, winner can work on anything he wants.
JACKPOT:
When rounds are all done, judge decides on a shoe to make, everyone who wants to compete in Jackpot pitches in some cash amount to be decided and winner takes all.
This is a play day, not a serious competition, just all of us having fun with the great man himself. Shayne Carter, close friend and working partner with Jay, will be the Clinician and Judge.

The evening will be a celebration of jay sharp’s 90 years, with a display of many of the works he has (and still is creating). It’s a fantastic time for all to interact and visit. day two will be the match play contest with open judging and hands on clinic. The action just won’t stop as all can learn to refine techniques and continue to improve.
