The Treasury Department recently released final regulations under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(r) that will affect how all charitable hospital organizations maintain tax exemption. ChristineKawecki, Tax Director, Deloitte Tax LLP; Chris is the lead tax Director in the Northeast Health Sciences practice of Deloitte Tax LLP and oversees the largest tax group dedicated to Health Care and Life Sciences clients in the Northeast. She has over 26 years of experience as a consultant providing a wide array of services to taxable and tax-exempt clients, including tax-exemption and business planning; merger and acquisition support, due diligence reviews; organizational design, restructuring; partnerships and joint ventures; corporate governance; and FAS 109 and FIN 48 review and consultation.

Gordon Sanit, Director, Deloitte & Touche LLP; Gordon is a Director with Deloitte & Touche and has client leadership responsibility at several large healthcare providers in the Metro New York region. Gordon is afinance/regulatory specialist whose background includes over 32years of directing and working on a broad range of health care projects.Gordon has extensive health care experience serving academic medical centers, community hospitals, governmental medical centers and other health care providers. His experience includes conducting audit and advisory services to acute and psychiatric hospitals, long-term care providers, physician practice plans, diagnostic and treatment centers, renal dialysis facilities and other health care governmental, providers and not-for-profit organizations.

Christopher R. Giuliano, Senior Manager, Deloitte Consulting LLP; Chris has over 24 years of revenue cycle experience that has been focused on improving operations, increasing revenue and accelerating cash collections for both acute and post-acute providers. He has extensive experience managing end-to-end Revenue Cycle transformation engagements. Chris has served for two years as the Co-Chair of the New York Metropolitan HFMA Patient Accounting Education Committee and is a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA) with a specialty in Patient Financial Services.
