- Describe a world event that occurred during the 1950s.

- Who were some of the world leaders during this time? -Name some famous singers or musical groups that performed during thisdecade.

Week 2:Due September 19-23

-When and where was Elvis Presley born?

-What kind of music did he listen to as he was growing up?

-Name at least three of Elvis’s most famous songs.

-What do you think made Elvis and his music so popular?

Week 3:Due September 26-September 30

-When did the Beach Boys first become the group known as “The Beach Boys?”

-Give the names of the members of the Beach Boys.

-Name at least three famous Beach Boy songs.

-Why do you think beach music was so popular at this time?

Week 4:Due October 3-7

-When did the Beatles first come to the United States?

-On what television show did they first appear?

-What was unique about the way the Beatles looked?

-Name the four members of the Beatles and what instruments they each played.

-Name at least three famous Beatle songs.

-Describe a major world event that occurred during the 1960s.

-Describe the group of people known as “Hippies” during the 1960s and early 1970s.

Week 5:Due October 10-14

-Where did the music known as Motown originate?

-Who were some famous Motown singers?

-Write about the Civil Rights movement in America during the 1960s and 1970s.

-Describe the DISCO music sound and what the people used to wear when they danced to this kind of music.

-Name at least two popular disco groups.

-Why do you think Disco was so popular in the 1970s?
