  2. Change drill bit size to 3/8” diameter and drill to 3/8” deep.
  3. Take a cold chisel and tap with a hammer to pop off remains of rivet head (fig 3). Using a center punch, tap out remaining portion of rivet.
  4. Top plate will now separate.

To Assemble:

  1. If replacement parts include the base repair kit, first remove the old ball bearings and the nylon-retaining ring. Do not wipe out the grease, as the grease is needed for internal lubrication. Add additional grease as necessary (available at any hardware store).
  2. Lay the new nylon-retaining ring on the bottom swivel plate and set the eight new ball bearings in place.
  3. Set the top swivel plate on the ball bearings.
  4. Slide 1 if the 3/8” metal washers, followed by 1 thin nylon washer, on the 3/8” x 1 ¼” screw (fig A).
  5. Insert screw and washers down into the top swivel plate (from top side) and through the bottom swivel plate.

Note: On model 90990-type with tubular stem base, bolt is inserted up into the bottom swivel plate.

  1. Slip 1 nylon washer and 1 metal washer onto the screw, which is now sticking down through the bottom swivel plate.

Note: Model 90990-type base will require 1 nylon washer and 1 to 3 metal washers on top of the swivel plate. The bolt will be sticking up through the top swivel plate.
