FEV strengthens capabilities in the development of intelligent vehicles and mobility concepts

Dr. Thomas Hülshorst assigned global responsibility for the electronics and electrification business unit;

Jürgen Ogrzewalla to head European electronics activities

As a result of further expansion in the fields of alternative drives, connectivity and driver assistance systems (ADAS) at international engineering service provider FEV, Dr. Thomas Hülshorst has taken over global management of the electronics and electrification business unit. In his new position as group vice president electronics and electrification, he will report to the COO of FEV Group Holding GmbH, Dr. Ralf Marquard. FEV’s Jürgen Ogrzewalla has assumed responsibility for the activities of the business unit in Europe and, thus, assumes Hülshorst's previous position, which he had held since 2012.

"Policy measures around the world and changing user requirements are driving demand for new mobility concepts and additional vehicle functions," said Professor Stefan Pischinger, president and CEO of the FEV Group. "We are responding to these developments with the global, strategic orientation of our electronics and electrification business unit– particularly, the need to quickly and securely integrate a variety of new systems from different suppliers into a vehicle."

Since joining FEV in 2002, Dr. Thomas Hülshorst has played a keyrole in the advancement of the electrification and electronics business unit. In addition to the expansion of FEV’s competencesin electromobility, battery development and vehicle electronics, he has been heavily involved with FEV’s software for controlling hybrid and electric drives and the FEV battery management system. Dr. Hülshorst also launched the new “Smart Vehicles” engineering as an interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach to intelligent, connected and automated vehicles.

Jürgen Ogrzewalla has achieved significant success in the development of fuel cell systems, the establishment of software validation using hardware-in-the-loop and functional safety (ISO26262). Since 2014, he has headed FEV’shybrid & e-mobility department.
