Hello,

September was a busy month in Port Vendres. The Association held a meal at the Jardin de Collioure with over 40 attending. The Last Wednesday aperos took the form of a visit to the new smokehouse Poissons Fumés in PV with a chance to sample their produce and learn about the smoking process and the history of the building, again with over 40 members present. We ended September with a fascinating talk at Le France by Professor Derek Pounder, a leading forensic pathologist, who told us more than we ever knew about dead bodies and criminal pathology. Thanks to Colin for arranging that. These events added another 300€ to our funds as well as several new members (some of whom joined at the Forum des Associations). Add to that a new baby in our family, work starting on our house and a film being made in the town which always seemed to close the roads you wanted to use, and life became quite hectic – and it looks much the same in October. Linda will be popping up to Brussels at every opportunity and I am away a couple of times – so any help organising (for example the Aperos) would be welcome!

Fete de Vendanges Sunday 8th October.

As usual we have several tables and 30+ chairs and a BBQ which will be centrally on the beach near the tide line, and our banner will be visible. Do let us know in good time if you are coming. We start with aperos at 12h15. There is plenty going on if you come earlier. Access by car is difficult or impossible. Train is best. We provide tables and chairs, bread, apero, winw, water and a barbecue. You bring a plate for the table(salad etc or dessert, and what you want to cook on the barbecue and a small fee (10€ includes a donation). Thanks to those who have volunteered to help setting out tables. I will be there at 07h15. We will coordinate over transport.

Marie Gripenstedt-Stahl Exhibition 5-17 October

At Paco’s bar 18 rue Riere, Collioure. The vernissage is on Thursday 5th at 17h00. Marie exhibits regularly at our exhibitions, and this is a good chance to get to know this excellent Collioure bar – a favourite haunt of several of us ¬ and to see Marie’s paintings.
