FETAL PIG DISSECTION - AP BIOLOGY

Set up a piece of paper to write down your dissection information as you go. Please follow the lettering system of the directions below in writing down your information. You will be doing all the written information for each section before you do the dissection part.

I.Determining Age of Fetus

A.Follow the directions on page 1 of the dissection manual. (No need to write here)

B.Measure the length of the fetus in millimeters. (Write under section B on your paper)

C.Convert that length measurement to fetal age (in # of days). Write the age down on your dissection paper.

Just loosen mesentery tissue and push organs to side to view underlying ones.

A.Find one kidney.

B.Cut one kidney in half and locate in the pig and define each bold-faced terms on p. 105 (= 6 terms)

XI.Genital System (Female) (p. 106)

B.Exchange pigs with another group to look at a male pig.

XI.Male Urogenital System (p. 108)

A.Locate in pig and define all terms on p. 108 & 109 (= 11 words)

B.If you haven’t looked at a female pig yet, exchange pigs with another group to look at the female pig.

C.Complete self quiz on page 111. Answers must be typed.
