Information about your student teaching timeline

Important Note:

Your student teaching progress will be more accurately assessed if your timeline is followed.

Items on Your Timeline:

Observation and Progress Report (OPR)

During your spring 2017 placement you will have three (minimum) formal observations OPRs from your College Supervisor (CS) and three (minimum) from your Cooperating Teacher (CT). Your CT and CS must observe and evaluate your second observation together.

Each time you are to be observed you must upload your complete lesson plan to Chalk and Wire in the appropriate OPR section. Student teacher’s data must be in Chalk and Wire before a college supervisor and cooperating teacher can complete an assessment.Any questions about Chalk and Wire should be sent to Chalk and Wire at Rhode Island College .

Elementary Placements: you must also provide your CS and CT with a link to the Content Specific Indicators. You can upload your lesson plan twice if you like, but you must make sure the CS and CT evaluate you not only on the OPR but also the OPR Content Specific Indicators.

Secondary Content Areas:you may also have additional indicators. Please ask your CS for further information.

Professional Behavior Indicators (PBI)

The Professional Behavior Indicators are the assessment tool used to record your professionalism. The PBIs have equal importance in the student teaching grading process. These are completed by your CT. When you upload your lesson plans for OPR 1 and 3, go to the Professional Behaviors in your Table of Contents. Click, “Add Content” select, “Add Text Box” type, “Please Assess” and click “Submit”.

Teacher Candidate Work Sample (TCWS)

You must complete a TCWS for seminar and submit it in the appropriate section(s) of Chalk and Wire. You will learn more about the TCWS from your seminar instructor. Your seminar instructor grades your work.

Exit Survey

The timelines contain the link for the exit survey. OPP will not submit a student teaching grade for you if you have not completed the survey. The exit survey is your opportunity to provide input/feedback on your experience with your cooperating teacher and college supervisor.

Grade Entry

OPP enters a grade of S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory)for student teaching. Your seminar instructor enters a letter grade for seminar. Your student teaching grade is based on the OPR submissions from both your cooperating teacher and college supervisors and well as your PBIs.
