Volunteer Opportunity - Social Policy Campaigner
Richmond Citizens Advice Bureau is looking for a new volunteer in its Research & Campaigns Team, based in Twickenham.
The Richmond Citizens Advice Bureau provides free confidentialand impartial advice to those who live, work or study in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
The Research & Campaigns Team uses clients’ experiences and stories in order to identify areas that call for changes in policy or delivery as well as carrying out research to investigate emerging problems.
What the Social Policy Campaigner will do:
- Work with the existing team (four volunteers) to summarise evidence of areas where policy or delivery change is needed
- Take part in projects to examine issues in greater depth or report on topics that require urgent attention
And, if possessed of appropriate skills and experience:
- Reach out to local organisations and media channels to deliver our key messages and effectively present our recommendations for change
- Leverage social media to disperse our messages more forcefully
Qualifications/experience:
Essential:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A keen sense of social justice and a determination to promote positive change
- Good computer literacy
Desirable:
- Skills and experience in networking and working with various media channels

Role details:
- A regular commitment of at least one full day per week on a Tuesday, but preferably two days, with some flexibility for the choice of the second day
- The role will be based in the Twickenham RCABS office on a Tuesday, but with some scope to work from home on a second day
