Feedback: Holiday Fun @ your library

The feedback from Holiday Fun was very encouraging. The vast majority of Champions were really pleased with the campaign material and the attendance of both children and parents at branch activities.

Some respondents were disappointed that the Channel 10 ads had not yet aired. The good news is that they will be airing during the dates below.

The response from local media was varied though increased when libraries made follow up calls after media releases.

Although January is a difficult time to run activities, with a lot of competition around, most libraries were pleased with the number of attendees at activities and commented on the success of having a variety of activities during the program.

Most Champions embraced and used much of the campaign material provided. Interestingly, 93% used the posters and bookmarks and 82% incorporated the logo. An impressive 58% consulted the overview and 52% used the media release template.

Activities that worked well in the majority of libraries were Summer Reading Clubs and themed story times.

Some of the particularly successful activities include:

  • Congrangamite’s – Lend-a-loo
  • Brimbank’s Chinese New Year celebrations
  • Darebin’s Japanese book binding

Thank you to all who responded to the survey – your feedback is paramount to ensuring the best ongoing campaign possible.

Summary of Opt-In

The response for Opt-In has been fantastic. Every library service has opted into at least one program. The majority of you have opted into the remaining five programs (62.8%) and a staggering amount into at least three programs (93%).

Media

Two television commercials are being run on Channel 10 and Southern Cross Network. As they are being aired in the Community Service Announcement spots we are unable to advise in advance as to when they will be on.

The periods in which @ your library ads are to appear on Channel 10 and Southern Cross are:

Now - 22 February

1 May – 11 June

14 August – 30 September

The ads are being played in equal rotation so keep your eyes peeled!

The Leader Group is also beginning to run the print ads in their papers. The ads for Leader are different from what you have already seen in your packs. So keep a look out for the colour and mono ads in your local Leader paper.

Those of you in rural Victoria should watch out for The Weekly Times running program ads and editorial from 25th February!

And remember, the best way to make use of this statewide media is to compound the effect with local news items and publicity.

The Your Future media release that was sent to statewide media will be posted online for your use. If you have any questions about media, promotion or anything at all…just ask.

The fun and vibrant promotional material for Your Future has been sent. As we said in the email at the time, even if your activities are not specifically career focused, you can still use the material provided where possible.

Correspondence

The email forum has been working well with some great questions and feedback appearing from numerous Champions. For those of you who may still be a little hesitant in asking a question or seeking advice from the group remember that there are likely to be others with a similar enquiry – and no question is stupid or a waste of time!

Questions? Here’s who to Contact

The changes at the State Library and The Marketing Bank may have confused you a little. The following should clear it up:

Damian, sadly, has left the Public Libraries Unit to take on a new role at Port Phillip Library Service. We all wish him the best of luck in his new role.

The good news is that Nicole Lowndes has taken over from Damian and has brought a load of enthusiasm.

You may have noticed that email correspondence from Lisa now comes from Bristow Prentice Lambaart Budd (B|P|L|B). In a very exciting move The Marketing Bank merged with B|P|L|B from January 1st.

Use of Templates

For those of you who may still be in the process of getting started with Your Future, remember that there is a great array of templates on the CD provided.

The template for customising your posters prints out to fit in the applicable section of the A2 poster. If you’re having any trouble feel free to resize and alter the boundaries to conform to your format!
