Election:

Voting will take place immediately following the conclusion of the opening session through the end of the first day (3:00). Officers will be announcedduring the State Conference.Votes willbe tallied duringthe conference by FEA AdvisoryBoardMembers.

Campaign:

Candidates may create information flyers, posters, andbuttons for their campaign.A table will be provided inside the hall to display for your candidacy.You mustnotify the FEAState Directoratleast two weeks prior to the conference if you are requestinga display table. Candidates will be responsible for setting up their display tables and the distribution of all their materials.They must canvas the areaafter voting is completed to ensure none of their campaign materials arefound on thefloors or conference areas.Posters willnot beallowed tobe taped to walls.They may be displayed on your display tableand may beused during your speech.All questions may be directed to the FEA State Director at 949-609-4660.

ARTICLEVI–LOCALSTATEOFFICERS

SECTION 8The officers of theState Association of FEA Executive Council shall be a President, Vice-President, Secretary, South Region Representative, Central Region Representative, and NorthRegion Representative.The state officers and the State FEADirector will constitute the Executive Council of the State Association.The Executive Council of the State Association shall meet a minimum of three times per school year.Tentative dateswill coincide withstate FEA conferences in October and April and a late summermeeting for new officer orientation. Duties will be assigned to each State Officer by theState Director for FEA.An application process and screening will be used to selectState Officers each year.This will include arecommendation from the local FEA advisor and resume’ of FEA related activities.

ARTICLEVII–STATEOFFICERSAPPOINTMENTS

SECTION 1Qualifications for State Office

1.Only active members are eligible to hold state office.

2.All applicants will be certifiedeligible for nomination to holdoffice by a screening committee appointedby the State Director.

3.To beconsidered for an office in FEA,a candidate shall:

A.Have at least one year remaining in his/her educational program.

B.Be recommended by the chapter and endorsed by his/her local chapter advisor, parents, and school administrator.

C.File an officialapplication with the State Director’sOffice before the determined deadline is established.

D.Have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or better.

E.Demonstrate leadership on campus.

F.Be available toattend State Officer Meetings.

G.Attend Officer Training Scheduled in early fall.

FEASTATEOFFICERDUTIES

PRESIDENT:

  • Shall represent FEA at special events

PHILOSOPHY: It isaprivilege andan honorfor astudent toattend area, state and national FEA conferences. Assuch, each student has theuniqueopportunity torepresenthis/her school, communityand familyas a professional.Students are expected tofollow all rules and regulations stated herein. Incasesof uncertainty, the studentshouldconferwithhis/her advisoror chaperoneprior to acting; ignorance of rules and regulation will not be consideredan acceptable excuse. Teachers, chaperones and state staff assume the responsibility of enforcingall rules and regulations toensure,to thedegree possible, the safety and well-beingof students.

SPECIAL NEEDS: The California Association of FEA recognizes the special needs of our members. If anymember has a special need that will require accommodation, themember is requested to informthe California AssociationofFEA of such needs so accommodations canbe made.

DRESSCODE: Dress andgroomingindicate the pride youhave inFEA, its goals andits activities. FEA is, first and foremost, a professional organizationforstudents enrolled inEducation Professionscourses.Justas inabusiness wherecompanypoliciesrelated to dressandgrooming are maintained, FEAhas developed its own policies. Essentially, properdress andgrooming for anyoccasionis a matter of exercising good judgment. Shouldaquestionarise concerningthedress code,contact your chapter advisorprior tomaking a decision. Helpus tobuild and maintaina positive image of FEA!

If aswimming pool,Jacuzzi,sauna, etc. is available for student use, the following dress is appropriate ONLYwhentraveling to/from and whenusingsuchfacilities.Under no circumstances are students permitted in the hotel lobby orin anygeneralarea, except the poolareaitself whiledressedfor swimming.Males andFemales: robe ort-shirt, swimming suit, shoesorsandals.

USE OFPHOTOGRAPHSMEDIA: TheCalifornia Association of FEAhasfullprivilege intheuseof photographs, images or digitalrecordingsofFEA members tofurther educate and promote thegoals of the organization.

CODE OFCONDUCT: Participationin California AssociationofFEAactivities provides an opportunity for students tointeractwith businessprofessionals, adult FEA supporters, otherFEA membersand thegeneralpublic. Asa resultof establishingapositive,ethical and professionalimage manybusinesses, civic organizations and individuals providefinancialandhumanresources toFEAand its student members.Should you have any questions concerning what constitutes acceptablebehavior, ask your advisor or chaperone prior tomaking adecision.FEAvalues its reputation and asks that youhelpmaintainit. The codeof conducthasbeenestablished and is enforced at all area, state, andnational FEA conferencesand activities.

GeneralPolicies:
  • Be prompt and prepared for all activities.
  • Wear identificationbadgeatall conferenceactivities.
  • Attend all general sessions andmeetingactivities.
  • Keep advisor/chaperone informed of whereabouts at all times.

  • Showrespectforrights andproperty ofothers. Damages toproperty orfurnishingsshallbepaid forbythe individual or responsible Chapter.
  • Adhere to thedress code at all times.
  • Refrain fromloud, boisterous talk, swearingand horseplay.
  • Demonstrate sportsmanshipinthe leadershipand skills competition, andmeetings.
  • Observe the rules andregulations established by those incharge of the meetings andconferences.
  • Refrain frompossessing and/or consumingalcoholic beverages, cigarettes, or illegaldrugs.
  • Refrain fromany other act which brings criticismor discredit toCalifornia Association ofFEAand/or Chapter that themember represents.
HotelPolicies:
  • Be inrespective hotel rooms by established curfew. Checkwithyour advisor for time.
  • Refrain fromallowingmembersof theopposite sexin hotel rooms/sleeping areas.Exceptions tothis rule maybe made by thestate or local FEA advisor for specialmeetings.
  • Remain in hotel (except for authorized events)unlesspriorpermission hasbeen received fromadvisor/chaperone.
  • Leavehotel groundsby curfewor immediatelyfollowinglast scheduledevent ifnotregistered at thehotel.
  • Refrain fromusing the telephone after curfew.
A delegateviolating the rules of personalconductortheinstructions ofhis/heradvisors may lose allrights tofuture FEA activities,andmay subject him/herself to being disqualified from competitionandremovedfrompositionsof prominence.

LevelOneViolations:Thefollowinghavebeen identified as extremelyseriousviolations.

1.Violation of any city, state or federal law.

2.Possession, consumption, transportation orpurchaseof any alcoholic beverageor illegaldrug. If alcoholic beveragesand /or illegal drugsor evidenceof their use are found ina hotel room, all occupantsof that roomshall be subjectedtothepenalties describedbelow.

3.Defacing,damagingor stealing public orprivate property.

4.Failure toattendconferenceactivities, includingcompetitive events,general sessions andspecial meetings.

5.Male infemale’s roomorfemale inmale’s roomwithoutanopen door andwithoutpermission of a chapter advisororchaperone.

6.Missing curfewbymore than30minutes. Curfewmeans being in yourassigned roomwiththe doorclosedand noise keptata minimum. If you are not staying in the hotel, curfew means that you have left thehotel groundsby the statedtime.

7.Throwinganyobjectfroma hotelwindow orvehicle.

8.Inviting orhaving non-FEAmembers orunregisteredindividuals in your hotel roomat a conference activity.

9.Rudeness or insubordination.

10.Repeatedviolation LevelTwo Conduct Codes.

11.Violationsnot mentionedas identifiedby the advisor, chaperone, state staff and/or school official.

Level OnePenalties:

1.Expulsion from the conference.

2.Notificationof theparentor guardian.

3.Notificationofa schoolofficial.

4.Student,parent/guardian andadvisormust immediatelyarrange foralternative travelplans toreturn home, at theparent/ guardian’s expense.

5.Forfeitureof all awards, moneys, scholarships, travel grantsand futureopportunities to participate in California FEA activities.

6.Otherpenalties at thediscretionof the advisor, chaperone, schoolofficial or state staff.

Level TwoViolations: Thefollowinghavebeenidentified as less serious violations, but if repeated, students maybesubjectedto penalties similaror equal tothoseprescribed for LevelOne Violations.

1.Failure tofollow the California Association ofFEAdress code.

2.Smoking inpublic during theconference.

3.Failure to wear identification during the conference.

4.Tardiness toconference activities. If tardyby30minutes ormore, a Level One penalty applies.

5.Leaving the conferencesite withoutthe knowledgeof youradvisororchaperone.

6.Missingcurfewby less than30minutes andbynotbeinginyour assignedroomwithyour door closed and noisekepttoa minimum.

7.Disturbingotherhotelguestsbyexcessive noise, door slamming, etc. whichresults inacomplaint tothe hotelmanagement. Two suchcomplaints result ina Level Onepenalty for all occupantsof theroomor facility.

8.Otherviolations notmentioned above but identifiedby theadvisor, chaperone, state stafforschool official.

Level TwoPenalties:

1.Verbal and writtenwarning and immediate compliance withconferencerules.

2.Notificationof chapter advisor andstate FEA Staff.

3.Repeat violationsor theviolation of anotherLevel Two Code may result inLevelOne penalties.
