What? FCCLA stands for Family Career and Community Leaders of America. It is an organization that gives students the opportunity to identify important issues in their community and help find solutions to those issues. We focus on leadership skills, character building, and life-long learning and service. It prepares students to be leaders in the community as well as to realize the power of one.
Who? Any student that has previously or is currently taking a FACS class can join FCCLA.
When? Our chapter meetings will generally be during FLEX on Fridays and sometimes after school or evening, and some that take you away during the school day. We will be meeting several times a month, but may have an occasional extra activity or service project, depending on what the students organize. You don’t have to come to everything, but it definitely makes it more fun. FOOD IS ALWAYS SERVED AT EVERY MEETING!
Where? Miss Reid’s Room (104), Pleasant Grove Junior High School
Why? To learn how to be good leaders, support the community, change lives, and experience the power of one in making a difference everywhere!
Membership Dues:
REQUIRED
Basic Membership: $30.00 (includes state and national dues, chapter dues, t-shirt, activities at
school, subscription to Teen Times)
OPTIONAL
Sweatshirt $20.00

STAR Event $15
*Anyone can join FCCLA at any point during the school year, however there are activities you miss the later you sign up. Membership dues are the same no matter when you join. Member benefits are best if you start at the beginning! Membership dues need to be paid as soon as you sign up so you begin getting all the great stuff.
**Membership dues need to be paid by December 1 if students want to participate in the STAR Events competition. You will only begin receiving member benefits AFTER paying the membership dues.
FCCLA CHAPTER MEMBER CONTRACT
As a member of FCCLA at Pleasant Grove Junior High, I agree to carry out the following responsibilities:
Time Commitment
¨ Chapter Meetings (Fridays during FLEX) and Activities (as many as I can)
¨ FCCLA Induction Night (Oct.)
¨ FCCLA Awards Gala (May)
¨ Region and State Leadership Conference (if I am in Silver Membership standing and have completed a STAR Event or Power of One (all five modules))
Code of Conduct Commitment
¨ Represent PGJHS FCCLA. I understand that it is my responsibility to display a positive public image and promote the organization.
¨ Fulfill the duties of my membership by following through and completing assignments and participating in activities
¨ Be an example of an effective leader.
¨ Follow the State CTSO Code of Conduct.
¨ No N’s, U’s, D’s or F’s on grades for current year to participate in Area and State activities that take students away from the classroom.
¨ I will keep up with my school work and be responsible for the work I miss for FCCLA conferences or activities.
Professional Dress Commitment
I will follow the required dress code for all meetings as outlined below:
¨ Chapter Meetings: Nice casual, school dress code applies
¨ Chapter Activities: FCCLA shirt, school dress code applies
¨ Official Meetings (Local, Region, and State): Professional Dress REQUIRED! NO JEANS! NO FLIP FLOPS! School dress code applies.

FCCLA Media Release
We have several different public relations tools we use for our chapter. By being an FCCLA member this year, you could have your picture of your participation in chapter meetings or activities appear in the newsletter, in the showcase in the hall, or on our FCCLA website/blog. If you want to be a member, but do not want your picture used in any of our public relations media, please check the box below.
