INFORMATION ON ACC 207 AND ACC 208

ACC 207, Financial Accounting for Decision Making and ACC 208, Managerial Accounting for Decision Making are introductory accounting courses required for all business majors. Each course has a four-hour classroom component (ACC 207 and ACC 208) and a one-hour self-paced activity (ACC 207A and ACC 208A).

The one-hour self-paced activities reinforce the material covered in the four-hour classroom component using accounting software. In ACC 207A, students will set up and run a web-based accounting system using Connect Plus & QuickBooks accounting software. ACC 208A uses Connect Plus accounting software. These software packages are only compatible with Windows Operating Systems. Using a MAC for QuickBooks will require users to install the program with a different method from the standard Windows users.

Registering for these classes:

Students enrolling ACC 207/207A and ACC 208/208A may have difficulty enrolling because:

1)You must add both courses at the same time

  1. If enrolling in ACC 207/207A, you must enroll in both; one section of ACC207 and one section of ACC 207A (these two are co-requisites) or
  1. If enrolling in ACC 208/208A, you must enroll in both; one section of ACC 208 and one section of ACC 208A (these two are co-requisites).

2)ONCE SECTIONS BECOME CLOSED due to reaching the enrollment capacity for either the lecture (ACC 207, ACC 208) or the activity (ACC 207A, ACC 208A), students will receive a “requisites have not been met” error message. This does not mean “pre-requisites” have not been met, it means co-requisites (in this case).

  1. The system does not automatically waitlist you, you will need permission numbers for BOTH the lecture (ACC 207, ACC 208) and the activity (ACC 207A, ACC 208A) in order to be waitlisted.
  1. Permission numbers are section specific, you will need to provide the course section or the 5-digit course number for the set of courses you are wait listing for. Only one set of permission numbers will be given.

PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO HIGH VOLUME TRAFFIC DURING THE REGISTRATION PERIOD, VOICEMAILS TO THE DEPARTMENT MAY NOT GET RESPONDED TO QUICKLY. STUDENTS WHO COME TO THE ACCOUNTING OFFICE (BLDG. 164, RM 2064) WILL BE HELPED FIRST. EMAILS TO THE DEPT. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT COORDINATOR AT: WILL BE SECOND. CALLS WILL BE RETURNED WHEN POSSIBLE.

3)If you are needing to repeat only the lecture (ACC 207, ACC 208) or only the activity (ACC 207A, ACC 208A), a permission number will be needed.

  1. Permission numbers are section specific, you will need to provide the course section or the 5-digit course number for the set of courses you are wait listing for.

4)Because ACC 207/207A and ACC 208/208A together are a 5-unit course, students may encounter problems during the registration period because of the 13 unit maximum limit. The maximum unit cap rises to 16 during the Registrar’s Office designated Adjustment Period and/or the Add/Drop period for each quarter, check their website for appropriate dates:

5)Should you remain on the waitlist once the quarter begins, attend thefirst lecture meeting to see if the instructor will be adding to the course. Please note that being added to the course dependssolely on the instructor’s approval and the classroom capacity.

  1. The instructor may give out permission numbers to their lecture, if so you will need a permission number for an activity from the Accounting Office (Building 164, Room 2064)BEFORE adding the lecture, as the lecture and activity must be added at the same time as noted in 1a and 1b.
  1. If the instructor does not give out permission numbers, instructorsshould give your name (first and last), Bronco I.D. and CPP email address to the Accounting Office so that aset of permission numbers overriding the class size for both the lecture and activity can be given by email or in person.

Because the lecture and activity are taught by different instructors, they do not have access to permission numbers other than their own courses.
