Statement:
It is the intention of the Frontier campsite to safeguard the health & safety of all our employees, users of our services and others whilst on site and to provide such information they need for this purpose.
The management team will take all reasonable steps to provide safe and healthy conditions, to manage these effectively and to ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety and fire safety legislation.

Management Systems
Commentary:
The Fire Safety Management plan is contained within the Health & Safety file and is kept by the Site Manager. A schematic is attached.
It confirms that a fire risk assessment will be completed to ensure adequate fire safety and will be reviewed as necessary. The fire risk assessment will follow the 5 step narrative method as advocated by the HSE. The significant findings will be recorded. Any deficiencies identified by the fire risk assessment process will be prioritised and rectified accordingly.
The owner has overall responsible for:-
  • Deciding the fire safety protective and preventative measures
  • Ensuring they are implemented and communicated to other relevant people
The owner will be responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the fire risk assessment.
The owner will ensure that all food concessions have completed fire risk assessments available upon request and that any additional risk caused by these food concessions is removed, reduced or replaced.
4 / General Description of Premises
Description:
The level campsite comprises of a predominately grassed area of approx 5,000square metres surrounded on all three sides by arable fields. Access to the site is from Silverstone Road. At the SouthWest end of the site is a single storey brick building used as the campsite office and shop. Sanitary facilities are provided in temporary toilet/shower blocks located in the SouthEast corner of the site. A marquee is provided for entertainment during larger events.

5 / Fire Safety Systems Within the Premises
Fire Warning System: (e.g. automatic fire detection, break-glass system to BS 5839, other)
An automatic fire detection and warning system, comprising of 2 linked smoke alarms is provided to office/shop accommodation.
Rotary gongs are provided in the office, shop and at fire points throughout the site.
Staff are provided with hand held radios.
Emergency Lighting (e.g. maintained non maintained 1hr/3hr duration to BS 5266)
Emergency lighting is provided to the office, shop and marquee in accordance with BS5266.
Generator operated lighting is provided at all fire points.
Other: (e.g. Sprinkler system to LPC rules BSEN 12845)
The office, shop, marquee and all fire points are provided with fire extinguishers.
Fire points also have buckets of sand and water.

Commentary:
All staff are trained in evacuation procedures and what to do in the event of fire.Staff are also trained in the use of fire extinguishers. Staff will tackle a small fire on site if they feel safe to do so.
Fire drills involving as many staff as possible should be carried out at least once a year.
All training is recorded in the fire safety folder.
Contractors, including food concessions are to be made aware of the campsite evacuation procedure.
