Uniform Issue and UseIssued by: Chief Dean Farmer

Purpose and Scope

In an effort to maintain its professional image, the Department will issue uniforms to its members to wear while on duty and while performing department functions. The following explains the policy for issuance, care, and use of department issued uniforms.

Policy

  1. The Department will issue to all active members (probationary and full) one t-shirt and one polo shirt.
  1. The Department will issue to all full and Lifetime members a complete dress uniform.
  1. Each September, Department members wishing to receive a new t-shirt, polo shirt, or dress uniform will have the opportunity to order new clothing items. Members should bring items they wish to have replaced to the station during September and a member of the Logistics staff will survey each item and either approve or disapprove the ordering of new items. Only items rendered unserviceable due to appearance will be replaced. Members may purchase additional t-shirts and polo shirts at their own expense anytime during the year.
  1. The official dress or “Class A” uniform of the Department will be:
  1. Navy blue blazer with patches (issued)
  2. Navy blue pants (issued)
  3. White uniform shirt, short sleeve with patches (issued)
  4. Black necktie (issued)
  5. Hat (issued)
  6. Badge (issued)
  7. Black belt
  8. Black dress shoes/boots
  9. Black socks
  1. During summer months when extreme heat becomes a safety concern, the Class A uniform may be altered to allow for removal of the hat, necktie, and blazer. If the shirt is to be open at the neck, a clean, white t-shirt should be worn under the uniform shirt.
  1. The dress uniform should be neat and clean in appearance, with pressed pants and shirt and shoes or boots which are cleaned, polished, or shined.
  1. Accessories
  1. Badges will be worn in the holes provided on the left side of the blazer or shirt.
  1. Metal nametags may be worn. If they are worn, they will be centered ¼” above the right breast pocket of the blazer or shirt.
  1. Officers may wear rank insignia on the collar as follows:

d.Other pins such as years of service awards, pins denoting EMS certifications, etc. should be worn on the right half of the flap of the right breast pocket.

G.The official work uniform or “station wear” of the Department will consist of:

  1. Navy blue pants (issued)
  2. Polo shirt (The t-shirt may be substituted based on the nature of the assignment.) (issued)
  3. Black belt
  4. Black shoes/boots
  1. The officer in charge of a particular assignment shall designate the uniform to be worn for that assignment.
  1. Members wishing to have clothing items bearing the Department’s name or logo made up on their own for use or sale to other members shall have a sample approved by the Executive Committee prior to the item’s being produced.
  1. When either uniform is worn, all buttons should be buttoned, and no bulky objects should be visible in the member’s pockets.

K.Gold hash marks, one for each five years of service, may be worn at the discretion of the member on the Class A blazer. If hash marks are worn, they are to be centered on the outside bottom half of the left sleeve. The hash mark is to be placed at an angle of 45 degrees with the lower end toward the inside seam of the sleeve and placed four inches above the bottom of the sleeve.
