The ‘Family Grant’ is accessible to families supported through the County Durham Stronger Families Programme.

The 2 main objectives of the Stronger Families Family Grant are to:

  1. Improve the Quality of Families Lives (Essential, Practical Household Items)

This will help to improve the quality of families' lives and can be used to incentivise family members to make positive changes. Funding can be spent on the cost of practical household items such as new fridge, dining table, washing machine, baby equipment or removal costs.

  1. Reward families for positive outcomes achieved

This will be used to reward families for the achievement of positive outcomes and must beoutlined in the care/support plan.Funding can be spent on days out, family meal, out of school activities.

Section 8 – Payment Options

By doing this the Lead Professional/nominated individual are confirming that this application is accurate, that the money will be used for the purposes indicated and that the family will provide a receipt to the nominated individual to evidence how this money has been spent.

Section 10 – Data Protection
Data Protection Statement
The family’s personal details provided by the Lead Professional will be held on computer by the Think Family Team and will only be used by Durham County Council when considering this application of funding.
All funding is subject to monies being available within the Think Family Budget. All applications received, will be considered and approved by the Family Grant Panel.
Section 11 – What Happens Next

Please note that if sending this completed form from a non DCC email account, please send it securely to
  • The Family Grant Panel review the application and email the Lead Professional / Nominated Individual confirming the outcome of the application. We will attach an evaluation form to this email for the Lead Professional to complete together with all family members after the grant has been spent.
  • Email confirmation will be sent to the relevant One Point Admin. Lead and the nominated individual confirming that the professional can collect the cash grant payment from the relevant One Point Hub. One Point Hubs will not give cash directly to families
  • Grants must be collected within one month of receipt of the confirmation emails. If you are having difficulty collecting the cash within this timescale please contact the Think Family Team. If the cash is not collected and we do not hear from you within one month of sending this email and the cash is not collected we will assume that the family no longer require the cash and the application will be closed
  • All receipts must be returned to the nominated One Point Hub within 1 month of collecting cash
