2000Academic Achievement: Case Studies of a Group of Yemeni Women. Ph.D. Dissertation, OregonStateUniversity, CorvallisOregon, USA 132pp.

This dissertation explores the life stories and experiences of six Yemeni women who are academically successful and identifies factors perceived by these women to have played a major role in their academic success.

1996Salma and Eveline: A Comparative Study.Listening 31: 193-205.

This published essay is a comparative analysis of Salma and Eveline. The story “The land, Oh Salma” is an excellent example of characters and situations that cross geographical boundaries and it shares features with the account of an Irish woman in James Joyce’s “Eveline.”

1987Translations and Critical Studies of Mohammed Abdul-Wali’s Selected Stories. A paper submitted to the Department of English in partial fulfillment of the degree of MAIS program in English and Education, OregonStateUniversity. USA, 35pp.

This paper summarizes Mohammed Abdul-Wali’s contributions to the development of the modern short story in Yemen during the second of half of the 20th century. The paper also provides my own translation from Arabic to English of four of Abdul-Wali’s stories. The final section includes a brief discussion of these stories in relation to some stories in James Joyce’s Dubliners.

1980A Study of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot and Endgame. Long essay submitted to the Department of English in partial fulfillment of the degree of Bachelor of Arts in English, Sana’a University, Yemen, 51pp.

This essay is an analysis of Samuel Beckett’s waiting for Godot and Endgame against the background of the Absurdist Theatre.
