NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

Interstate 35 from FM 2843 to FM 2484

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a public meeting to discuss improvements to Interstate 35 in Bell County. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at the Salado Intermediate School Cafeteria located at 550 Thomas Arnold Road in Salado.

This construction project would begin at FM 2843 south of Salado and end at FM 2484 at the northern edge of Salado. The project would widen this section of IH 35 from four lanes to six lanes and convert the existing two-way frontage roads to one-way operation.

TxDOT held public meetings in July 2000, March 2001 and May 2007 to collect public input and has used that input in developing the currently proposed design. The current design includes additional exit ramps and a narrower right-of-way section than previously proposed. The purpose of this meeting is to allow the public one more chance to comment on the design before it is finalized later this year.

All interested citizens are invited to attend this meeting to view the schematic and provide TxDOT with feedback. Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact Mr. Michael Rhodes at (254) 867-2739 as soon as possible so arrangements can be made. Since the meeting will be conducted in English, any requests for language interpreters or other special communication needs should be made at least one week prior to the meeting. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.

Written comments may be presented either at the meeting or may be mailed to TxDOT no later than 10 days following the meeting so that TxDOT may incorporate them in the public meeting record. Written statements may be submitted to Mr. Albin A. (Andy) Petter, P.E., Waco District Director of Transportation Planning and Development, Texas Department of Transportation, 100 South Loop Drive, Waco, TX 76704-2858.
