Fairy tale (50 pts.):
For this assignment you will write a short, original fairy tale. It may be humorous or serious. The tale can be set in an imaginary time and place or set in contemporary (modern) times. Be sure to include as many features of a fairy tale as you can: a common person as the hero or heroine; supernatural elements (talking animals or magic); the triumph of good over evil; and a “happily ever after” ending. Remember to include a moral (a lesson about how people ought to behave) that will be illustrated through the reading of your fairy tale.
Illustration (20 pts.) :
Once you have completed writing your tale, draw an illustration to accompany the story. The illustration should appropriately represent an aspect of your tale. You will be allowed time in class to work on your illustrations.
Presentation (30 pts.):
You will be asked to share your fairy tale and illustration with the class.
Grading:
This assignment will count as a major grade. Your fairy tale and illustration will be due at the beginning of class on ______. The assignment should be typed. Be creative and have fun.
