SALTWATER FISHING TOURNAMENT SERIES
Annual tournament series, with 8 participating events, promotes the conservation, protection, and preservation of marine resources
Kansas City, MO –Fairbanks Scales, Inc., the world’s leader in weighing technology, announces that it is a sponsor of the 2016 North Carolina Governor’s Cup Saltwater Fishing Tournament Series, taking place May 10 –August 19, 2016. The annual tournament series is intended to promote the conservation, protection, and preservation of marine resources.
“We believe in supporting the mission of the Governor’s Cup Series to protect and preserve valuable marine resources, as well as promoting sportsmanship and the healthy enjoyment of these resources,”said Lang Bailey, Sales Associate at Fairbanks Scales. “This is our 2nd year sponsoring this event. The Series, managed by the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries, includes eight tournaments along the entire coast of North Carolina. Participating boats or teams are awarded Series points for billfish caught and released and for billfish taken which met tournament minimum size requirements. Penalty points are assessed for undersized fish taken, the emphasis being on fish released. At the end of the series, trophies are awarded to boats with the most points in both the “Private Boat”and “Charter Boat”categories. Individual awards are given to the outstanding junior boy, outstanding junior girl and lady anglers. In addition, trophies are awarded for the largest blue marlin, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, and dolphin (fish) caught during the series.
