Erasmus+ istheEU'sprogrammetosupporteducation, training, youthandsportinEurope. 2014/2020.

Erasmus+ givesuniversitystudentsthepossibilityofincreasingeducationalopportunitiesandacquiringthenecessaryskillsforaprofessionalcareer. Erasmus+ providesstudentswiththeopportunitytostudyabroadforupto 12 monthsforeachstudycycleand 24 months for single cycle degrees. Theperiod canalsobesplitintosmallerperiods.

Erasmusstudentswillreceiveagrantandmayattendcoursesandusetheavailablestructureswithoutfurtherregistrationfees (insomecasessmallcontributionsmayberequestedasforlocalstudents). Allactivitiesabroad (withapositiveresult) willbefullyrecognizedaslongastheyhavebeenapprovedintheLearningAgreement/ChangeForm. FullrecognitionofactivitiesconductedabroadisoneofthecommitmentsundertakenbySapienzaUniversityofRomebyapprovingtheErasmusPolicyStatement (EPS) andthe "RegulationforStudentMobilityandRecognitionofStudyPeriodsandTrainingAbroad." (D.R.Prot.n. 34218 - 13.05.2015).

DuringAcademicYear 2017-18, studentsmayparticipateintheErasmus+ ProgrammeatuniversitiesinEuropeanUnionmemberstatesandotherparticipatingcountries. Theseinclude:

  • EuropeanUnionmemberstates: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, UnitedKingdom, CzechRepublic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, SwedenandHungary;
  • EFTA/SEECountries: Iceland, LiechtensteinandNorway;
  • TurkeyandtheRepublicofMacedonia (asEUcandidatecountries).

Moreover, studentscanattendaSuperiorEducationalInstituteintheSwissConfederation (Swiss-EuropeanMobilityProgramme). AsSwitzerlandisnotamemberoftheProgrammeCountries, theSwissFederalCouncilwilldirectlyfundstudentswhoparticipate (seeArt. 2 ofthiscall).

1. APPLICATIONREQUISITES

A. GENERALREQUISITES

Sapienzastudents (includingpart-timestudents) whohavepaidalloutstandingtuitionfees (seenote 1) andenrolledforAcademicYear 2016-17 inaBachelors, Masters, SingleCycle, Doctorate, firstorsecondlevelMasterCourse, orspecializationprogrammemayapplyfortheErasmus+ Programme, asindicatedinthetermsandrulesofthiscall.

Pleasenoticethatincaseofspecialization, Erasmusgrantsaresubjecttocompatibilitywiththespecializationscholarship. Incaseofincompatibility, studentsmaystillparticipateintheprogramme, butwithoutanyfinancialsupport.

Moreover, candidatesmustalso:

  • NotberesidentinthecountrywheretheyintendtoattendtheErasmus+programme;
  • BeregisteredwithSapienzafortheentireErasmus+ mobilityperiod;
  • NothavealreadyexceededthemaximumperiodofparticipationinErasmus+ foreach12-monthcycleofstudyand 24 month for single cycle degrees (seenotes 2 and 3);
  • Possessanadequateknowledgeoftheforeignlanguagerequiredinthehostuniversityasindicatedinthecall;
  • NotbetherecipientsofanyotherEUgrant (paragraph 2°)

Studentsenrolledinthethirdyearofathree-yearBachelorsprogrammeforacademicyear 2016-17 andwhointendtoregisterfor 2017-18 as“fuoricorso”mayapplyfollowingthesameprocedureforstudentsonBachelorsprogrammes.

Studentsenrolledinthethirdyearofathree-yearBachelorsprogrammemayapplyformobilityinaMastersProgramme. ThesecandidateswillbeacceptedonconditionthattheyobtaintheirBachelorsdegreeandenrollforthesuccessivecycleofstudies(stated by self-certification of tuition fee payment).

2. Eligiblecandidatesarestudentsenrolledinthefollowingcourses

3. Allcreditsobtainedasoftheapplicationsubmittedwillbeconsidered, aslongastheyareacquiredthroughexamsandregisteredonInfostudby08.05.2017. Moreover, studentsmayintegratethistranscriptwithself-certificationsforexamsthathavestillnotbeenrecordedonthesystem (seeArt. 4).

CreditscompletedonErasmusmobilityperiodsmustbecertifiedbeforethefinaldissertationispresentedandthedegreeprogrammecompleted (forMasters, too).

StudentsthatplantocarryoutdissertationresearchmustindicatethetopicoftheresearchandobtainapprovalfromtheirdissertationcoordinatoratSapienzaandforeignco-coordinator.

Graduateswhoareonpost-degreetraineeshipsarenoteligibleforErasmus+ mobilityperiods.

C. LANGUAGESKILLS

AdequatelinguisticskillsareveryimportantforaqualityexperienceinErasmus+. IntheirLearningAgreement, studentsmustdeclareanadequatecommandofthelanguageskillsrequiredbythehostuniversity, unlessotherwiserequested.

Candidatesmust:

  • Verifythattheirlanguageskillsmeettherequirementsofthehostuniversityasindicatedinthelistofdestinations, unlessotherwiseprovided;
  • Checkonthehostuniversitywebsiteforanyextralanguagerequirements;
  • Possesstherequiredlanguageleveluponapplication;

Moreover, acceptedcandidatesmust:

  • Submitofficialdocumentation (i.e, IELTS, DELF, PLEetc.) certifyinglanguageskillsifthehostuniversityrequestssuchproof. Failuretocomplywillresultinnon-eligibility.
  • Obtainandsubmitalinguisticcertificationoftherequiredlevel, issuedbyanadequatestructure (facultyorother) incasethehostuniversitydoesn'trequireanofficiallanguagecertification.

Allstudentsmustpossesstherequestedlanguageskills.

2. GRANTSANDFINANCIALBENEFITS

Grantsformobilityaretobeconsideredasacontributiontotheexpensesofresidingabroadandrequireparticipationinmobilityactivities.

Toreceivegrants, studentsmustsignthefinancialcontractattheirErasmus+ officebeforeleaving.

StudentswhoDONOTTAKEORPASSANYEXAM (languagebasiccoursedoesn'tcount) duringthestudyperiodabroadand/orwhocannotcertifyworkontheirthesisorresearchforPhDsorMasters, willnotreceivetheMIURGrant.

  1. EUGrants

Erasmus+ Grantsfor 2017-18 EUgrantsarebasedonthecostoflivinginthedestinationcountry. Themobilitygrantsarebasedondestinationsanddividedintothefollowinggroups:

Group 1 Countries (highcostofliving): Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Sweden, UnitedKingdom: 280 €/month.

Group 2 and 3 Countries (averagecostofliving): Belgium, Croatia, CzechRepublic, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey; (lowcostofliving): Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, formerYugoslavRepublicofMacedonia:230 €/month.

Theactualgrantwillbecalculatedontheeffectivedaysofmobilitycertifiedbythehostinguniversity.

ErasmusgrantsareincompatiblewithgrantsfromotherprogrammesfundedbytheEuropeanUnion.

IfEUfundsrunoutorstudentsreceiveuniversityorotherEUgrantsorthestudentdoesnotrequirefunding, selectedcandidatesmayreceivean“ErasmusZeroEUGrant”statusthatwillallowhimtoenjoythebenefitsofmobilitywithoutreceivingthegrant.

AllErasmus+ GrantsaresubjecttotheapprovalofUniversityErasmusproposalsforAcademicYear 2017-18 bytheNationalErasmus+ IndireAgency.

  1. SapienzaandMIURFunding

SapienzawillgrantafinancialintegrationtoErasmus+ studentsbasedontheapprovedco-funding. The amount of the integration will be known only after the approval of the 2018 Financial budget

Furthermore, as stated at the previous section a), students who DO NOT TAKE OR PASS ANY EXAM (language basic course doesn't count) during the study period abroad and/or who can not certify work on their thesis or research for PhDs or Masters, will not receive the MIUR Grant.

TheNationalIndire-Erasmus+ Agencygrantsfundingfordisabledstudentswithspecialneeds.

Disabledstudentsmustindicateanydisabilityontheirapplicationandacceptanceforms.

Selecteddisabledstudentswillreceiveinformationonfundingduringtheyearat:

  1. FundingforStudentsRequiringFurtherFinancialAid

Students who have specific financial problems may, based on their ISEE declaration, receive further financial aid through dedicated EU and Sapienza and MIUR funding

In order to apply, students who consider to have the right of receiving this fund, have to ask for ISEE 2017 for Right to University Studies to with holding agent CAF, other qualified people, or get it by the INPS website ( The ISEE data will be assessed by the university on the dedicated INPS Platform and in case the student turns out to be without any ISEE DATA 2017 for Right to University Studies, he will be not considered for the fund assignment. StudentswillreceiveamonthlygrantinSwissFrancs (SEMPGrants) paiddirectlybytheSwissgovernment, unlessotherwiseprovidedbythehostuniversity.

3. AVAILABLEMOBILITYDESTINATIONS

AvailablemobilitydestinationsandnumberofavailableplacesmaybesubjecttomodificationsbasedonthedecisionsofEUandnationalbodiesregulatingtheprogrammeandpartneruniversities. Therefore, pleasebeadvisedtheinformationcontainedinthisdocumentisnotfinal. Studentsshouldverifythepossibilityofstudyingabroadbeforeapplying.

Mobilityperiodsforsomedestinationsintheannouncementmaybeshorterifthedidacticcalendarisshorter.

Moreover, forstudentswhohavealreadybeenonpreviousmobilityperiods, thisreductionwillbebasedonthenumberofallowedmonths, withamaximumof 12and of 24 months for single cycle degrees,followingauthorizationfromthehostuniversity.

Studentscanselectamaximumof2destinations.

Theorderofpriorityindicatedintheapplicationwilldeterminemobilitylocationsifacandidateisselectedinmorethanoneuniversity.

Studentsmustpayattentiontothelanguageskillsrequiredbyeachhostuniversityinordertobeabletoattendcourses.

5. SELECTIONANDRANKINGS

ACommissioncomposedby Scientific Manager, an Administrative Manager and a Student intern will evaluateallapplicationsbasedonthefollowingcriteria:

The number of credits divided by the degree year (from enrolment to current status) multiplied by the GPA. The result is divided by 10.

Language skills will be evaluated with a score of 2-10 based on the certificate presented with the application, based on the following criteria:

Level A1 = 2 points

Level A2 = 4 points

Level B1 = 6 points

Level B2 = 8 points

StudentslistedintheFinalRankingdonotautomaticallyhavetherighttothemobilityperiod. Theeffectiveassignmentofallmobilityperiodswillfollowtheassessmentofthenecessaryeducationalrequirementsestablishedbyeachfacultyandhostuniversity.

Incaseofequalscores, prioritywillbegiventostudentswhodonothavepreviousErasmusstudyorErasmusplacement/traineeshipexperiences.

6. LEARNINGAGREEMENT, FINANCIALCONTRACTANDON-LINELINGUISTICSUPPORT (OLS)

AllstudentswhoagreetotheassigneddestinationmustfillouttheLearningAgreement (LA).

TheLAisadocumentthatispreparedbeforedepartureanddetailsthestudyprogrammeabroad. LAsmustbeapprovedandsignedbythe FacultyAcademic Responsible for Mobilityendbythestudentandbythedestinationuniversitytoensurethatcreditforallexamstakenabroadisrecognized.

StudentsmustfillouttheirLAontheirpersonalwebpageat:

GranteligibilityandthefinancialcontractwillbesignedafterthefinalapprovaloftheLA. ThestatusofErasmusstudentandtherighttothegrantaresubjecttothesignatureofthefinancialcontract.

Thehostuniversitywilldeterminecandidateeligibilitybasedontheirprofileandlanguageskills, andmayrequestfurthercertificationsorrefusethecandidatebasedonrulesthatarenotdescribedintheFacultyorUniversityAgreement.

TheEuropeanCommissionrequiresErasmusmobilitystudentstotakeon-linelanguageassessmenttestsbeforeandafterthemobilityperiodforthefollowinglanguages: Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, French, GermanGreek, Polish, SpanishandSwedish, exceptformothertonguestudentsonmobilityinSwitzerland.

Theprocedureforthelanguageassessmenttestwillbecommunicateddirectlytostudents. Thepaymentofthefinalgrantcheckwilltakeplaceonlyafterthestudenthastakenthismandatorytest (seenote 5).

7. RENUNCIATION

Acceptanceofmobilityisaseriouscommitment. Eligiblestudentsarerequestedtorenounceafteracceptanceorrightatthebeginningofthemobilityperiodonlyforseriousandprovenmattersofforcemajeure, whichmustbecommunicatedinwritinganddulyjustifiedtoallowthefirstreservecandidatetotakeadvantageofthisopportunity.

8. PROCEDURESANDLOGISTICS

- Inordertoplantheircurricularprojectatthehostuniversity, studentsshouldcarefullystudyallavailableinformationbeforeapplying. Infact, thisinformationisfundamentalforreceivingthemobilityassignment.

- Studentswhowishtowritetheirthesisduringamobilityperiodshouldagreepreviously onthiswiththeresponsible professor for the Interistitutional Agreement and the RAM (Academic Responsible Mobility), afterhavingascertainedallthenecessaryinformationfromthehostuniversity.

- Erasmusstudentsmusttaketheplannedexamsforcoursesatthehostuniversity. TheFacultywillrecognisetheseexams, asdescribed. Creditsforexamstakenathostuniversitiesmustbeacquiredrespectingalltherulesandregulationofthecurriculaattheiruniversity.

- Oncestudentshavecompletedtheacceptanceprocedurefortheirhostuniversity, thecommissionwillestablishandcommunicatethedatebywhichallnon-scholarshipholdersmayrequesttheunassigneddestinations.

- Normally, foreignuniversitiesdonotprovidestudenthousingforErasmusstudents. Housinginformationisavailableonthewebsitesofmostuniversities. Studentsshouldcheckanydeadlinesorspecificproceduresthatmustbecompleted (accommodationand/orformsrequestedbythehostuniversity).

- EligiblestudentsforEUCandidateCountriesmustconsultRAEFforinformationconcerninghealthassistanceandresidence (host country visa, Erasmus Certificate, Host University Declaration, etc.).

- Thecivilresponsibilityandaccidentinsurancecoveragethatstudentshaveattheiruniversityisautomaticallyextendedfortheentiremobilityperiod:

9. INFORMATIONASSESSMENT

AsperArt. 71 -DPR 445 - 28/12/2000, theuniversitywillverifyapplicationinformationrandomlyandinancasethatposesdoubtsontheinformationprovidedbyself-certifications.

10. TREATMENTOFPERSONALDATA

Thepersonaldataofallapplicantswillbeusedforselectionproceduresandsubsequentprojectphasesforinstitutionalobjectives (D. lgs. 196/2003).

(1) StudentsonErasmusmobilityperiodsmustregularlypaySapienzatuitionfees.Ifthestudyabroadperiodinvolvesthecompletionofdegreetheses, thestudentsneednotpaytuitionforthenewacademicyear (2017-18), butmusthavepresentedanapplicationgraduationandgraduatebythelastsessionofAcademicYear2016-2017.

Studentsenrolledinthirdcycleprogrammes (PhDandSpecializationSchools),whowillcompletetheircourseofstudyafterthedeadlineofthiscall, willbeadmittedwithreserve.

(2) 24 monthsforsinglecycledegrees.

(3)TheErasmusAcademicYearbeginsonJune 1, 2017andendsonSeptember30, 2018.Erasmusmobilityperiodsrangefromaminimumof 3 monthstoamaximumof 12 monthsandarealsobasedonpreviousexperiencestocalculatethe 12-monthlimitpercycle.

(5) EvaluationtestswillbeheldviatheOnlineLinguisticSupport (OLS)PlatformaspertheCommonEuropeanFrameworkofReferenceforLanguages(CEFR). TheEuropeanCommissionalsoprovidesindependentlearningcoursesontheplatformtohelpstudentsonErasmus+ topreparefortheirmobilityperiods. Accesstothesecoursesiscommunicateddirectlytostudentsuponsignatureoftheircontract.
