Walter Sisulu University is a multi-campus, comprehensive university, with its seat at its Nelson Mandela Drive campus in Mthatha. The university has four campuses in Mthatha, Butterworth, Buffalo City and Queenstown, which are headed by Campus Rectors. Applications are hereby invited for the following position based in Mthatha Campus.

SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER(ACCOUNTANCY)

FACULTY OF COMMERCE AND ADMINISTRATION

Key Performance Areas:

  • Lecturing and convening at least one course in the Department of Accounting.
  • Research in the chosen area of expertise and community engagement.
  • Performing all the related administration duties associated with the course.
  • Assisting the Department in its drive towards SAICA re-accreditation of its CTA programme

Minimum requirements:

  • Professional qualification as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) [CA (SA)] or eligibility to register as a CA (SA) or a registered member of any recognized professional accounting body(A relevant Masters or Doctoral qualification will be an added advantage)

or

  • A relevant Masters or Doctoral qualification and a proven track record of lecturing on an accredited Accounting Programme at a SAICA accredited institution.

Experience:

  • Non CA’s must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of lecturing on a SAICA accredited programme
  • Prior lecturing/ tutoring experience will be an advantage for newly qualified CA’s
  • Good academic track record
  • Practical business experience
  • Good presentation skills
  • An in-depth understanding of SAICA’s transformation objectives and the Competency Framework as it relates to your specific discipline

Competencies:

  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Demonstrate a broad and thorough understanding of the subject area of accounting with specialization in either Financial Reporting, Taxation, Auditing Management Accounting/ Finance
  • An in-depth understanding of SAICA’s transformation objectives and the Competency Framework as it relates to your specific discipline
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team and to take the initiative where required
  • Will be required to present a mini lecture on a topical area in your area of expertise.
