Admission to Ph.D. Coursework Programme- 2018
In partial modification of earlier advertisement dated 28.04.2018 and subsequent addendum ref. no. R/336/SKBU/18 dated 03.05.2018 and corrigendum ref. no. R/341/SKBU/18 dated 04.05.2018 regarding admission to Ph.D. Coursework 2018/ Ph.D. Entrance Test, following information/ rectifications are to be read:
Applications in prescribed format are invited for admission to Ph.D. Coursework Programme- 2018 in the Department of Anthropology & Tribal Studies, Bengali, Botany, Commerce, Chemistry, Economics, Education, English, History, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Philosophy, Political Science, Santali, Sanskrit, Sociology and Zoology.
Admission to the said Ph.D. Coursework Programme will be conducted through 02 (two) phases - 1. Entrance Test (written examination) and 2. Viva-voce.
Eligibility for admission:
- Normally, acandidate seeking admission to the Ph. D. coursework will appear at the entrance test on the subject in which he/she had obtained 55% marks in the Post Graduation or equivalent or the relevant subject.
SC/ ST/OBC-A/ OBC-B/ Differently Able candidates may apply if they have 50% marks or equivalent grade in the concerned/ relevant subject of Post-graduation.
The students appearing at PG final semester may also apply.
II. The candidates who have cleared UGC/CSIR - NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE /Teacher Fellowship will not be required to appear at the Ph.D. entrance test. However, they willhave to submit the application form along with the required fees to appear at the Viva-voce directly.
Candidates should apply only in the prescribed form which is attached herewith. The downloaded form is to be duly filled up and to be submitted to the Registrar, Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, P.O. - Sainik School, Ranchi Road, Purulia-723104, West Bengal, India latest by 08.06.2018 along with a demand draft of Rs. 1000/- for Unreserved OBC candidates and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST / Differently Able candidates drawn in favour of “Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University”, payable at “Purulia”.
The applications of the candidates who have already applied in response to the advertisement dated 28.04.2018 will remain valid subject to the scrutiny of the forms and the payment of required additional fees on or before 08.06.2018 through demand draft only in favour of “Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University”, payable at “Purulia” and the required additional fee is to be sent to “The Registrar, Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, P.O. - Sainik School, Ranchi Road, Purulia-723104, West Bengal, India”.
Reservation: As perWB Govt. Rules.
The syllabus of the Entrance Test consists of 50% in the area of Research Methodology and remaining 50% shall be subject-specific (UGC/CSIR NET syllabus to be followed). The qualifying marks for Entrance Test will be 50 per cent.
Other necessary information related to question pattern, list of eligible candidates, schedule, venue of entrance test etc. will be uploaded in the official website of University( due course.

Note: Mere submission of application does not confer any guarantee for admission toPh.D. Coursework Programme. The successful candidates will be finally admitted to the coursework in accordance with availability of seats in the respective Department.
