Job Purpose Statement
The post holder will work as part of a team to promote and enhance student enterprise activity at the University of Surrey. He/She will work with the Student Enterprise Coordinator to support the general student enterprise programme managed by Partnerships. This will include: helping to promote the programme by developing links with the student body; increasing student engagement and participation; and working together with student enterprise staff to produce strategies and initiatives to improve the sustainability of student enterprise at Surrey. The successful fulfilment of this role will lead to improved student experience for all students on campus and an increase in entrepreneurial learning and skills development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities This document is not designed to be a list of all tasks undertaken but an outline record of the main responsibilities (5 to 8 maximum)
1.  Being the first point of contact for enterprise-minded students who want to use the Enterprise Centre, the Studio or explore other enterprise and funding opportunities.
2.  Day-to-day management, organisation and promotion of the Enterprise Centre and Studio.
3.  Coordinating the work of the Student Enterprise Team Assistants.
4.  Working with and supporting the work of the staff Student Enterprise Team, including assisting with the organisation of enterprise events such as workshops and challenges.
5.  Work collaboratively with the university crowdfunding project team to support project creators and maximise the use of the platform.
6.  Maintaining good relationships with business mentors, local business contacts and other potential stakeholders.
7.  Assisting with promoting the wider Student Enterprise programme across campus and to all faculties.
8.  Record keeping and miscellaneous administrative tasks.

Elements of the Role
This section outlines some of the key elements of the role, which allow this role to be evaluated within the University’s structure. It provides an overview of what is expected from the post holder in the day-to-day operation of the role.
Planning and Organising
·  The Student Enterprise Project Coordinator plans the wider student enterprise programme and the Student Coordinator will assume some responsibility for promoting elements of the programme to students. The programme runs over semesters 1 and 2.
·  The post holder will be expected to plan the use of, and market to students, the Studio retail space, The Enterprise Centre and The Food Kiosk.
·  Plan and organise events to promote the use of the crowdfunding platform, Studio and The Enterprise Centre.
·  The post holder will coordinate the work of the student enterprise team assistants to ensure a consistent and timely approach to marketing and promotional activity.
Problem Solving and Decision Making
·  The post holder will be expected to develop independent working and decision making skills to ensure that campus enterprise resources of the Studio retail space, The Enterprise Centre and The Food Kiosk are fully utilised, supported by the project coordinator. Impact of poorly managed resources could jeopardise university support for the provision of the space.
·  The post holder will be expected to advise and support staff and students using the university crowdfunding platform and help them to resolve any issues arising.
·  They will be expected to work with tenants/users of the facilities to resolve issues arising, but can refer unresolved issues to the project coordinator.
·  Decisions involving expenditure will need to be referred to the project coordinator.
Continuous Improvement
·  The post holder will be expected to review current procedures and suggest changes that improve the service to students, facilitates sustainability and widens enterprise education opportunities. Improvements will require the approval of the project coordinator to ensure they fit within the current programme and budgets before implementation.
Accountability
·  The post holder will have weekly meetings with the project coordinator to raise issues and review progress. They will have discretion to manage and develop the centres without supervision with a view to developing student engagement with the initiatives and the wider programme; however decisions involving expenditure will need to be referred to the project coordinator.
·  The post holder has primary responsibility for developing and supporting the University of Surrey Crowdfunding platform, liaising closely with the wider team in Alumni and the business school.
Dimensions of the role
·  The post holder will work across all faculties to engage with students interested in enterprise and promote opportunities to develop skills and knowledge.
·  The post holder will coordinate the work of 2-5 student enterprise assistants.
·  The post holder has primary responsibility for supporting the Universities crowdfunding platform and assisting students and staff with developing their projects.
·  The post holder will have operational responsibility for running the Enterprise Centre, Studio and the Food Kiosk.

·  The post holder will have the opportunity to develop initiative, problem solving and decision making skills.
·  They should have well developed people skills to enable them to interact confidently with students, and with colleagues at all levels of the organisation and externally.
·  The university has provided physical spaces to facilitate various student enterprise activities and encourage the formation of enterprises: Retail in ‘Studio’, Food at The Food Kiosk in Hillside and office space in The Enterprise Centre, and the post holder will be central to ensuring these facilities are promoted, organised and maintained correctly.
·  Forming sustainable networks and relationships is a crucial part of building the Student Enterprise Coordinator role, and maintaining the initiative for future years.
·  They will work to promote the wider student enterprise programme on campus which will include assisting with organising, and marketing events, signposting and supporting entrepreneurial students at Surrey, and representing the University externally when appropriate.
