Alpha Suite Lite Installation / Use Instructions

1. Insert the disk into your CD-ROM drive. Double click on the CD-ROM drive letter to see the installation program "Install Alpha Suite Lite.exe". Double click on that icon to start the installation process.

2. If you have previously installed Alpha Suite Lite, you will be prompted to uninstall the previous installation. Follow the instructions. No reboot is necessary.

3. You will be prompted to install the new software. Follow the instructions.

4. When you are ready to download data from an Alpha, plug the data collection cable into the PC and the Alpha. Choose the COM port as necessary, using the COM part of the FILE MENU. A typical USB to serial COM port has a COM port number like 7. If you are using a USB to serial adaptor, you must install its driver first.

5. Press READ to read the data off the connected Alpha. If you have a large number of codes, this may take a few minutes. You will see read progress at the bottom of the program window.

6. Press SAVE to save your data as a text file somewhere on your PC (for example, your desktop). You can view this data in Notepad any time, and you can reopen any saved data, using the OPEN command in the FILE MENU. Use SAVE AS in the FILE MENU to resave displayed data under another file name.

7. Once you have saved your downloaded data, you can erase user data from the connected Alpha. Do not disconnect the Alpha, or you will have to read it again. Press ERASE to erase user data. ERASE will not erase copier totals shown at the top of the displayed data. An ERASE may take up to 30 seconds for 2500 codes.

8. You can PRINT, COPY (unformatted) to clipboard, or EXPORT to Excel, any displayed data by pressing the appropriately named button. If you have a large number of users, be aware that the PRINT function may use a large number of sheets of paper.

9. If you have multiple Alphas, and you do not want to close the program, use the CLEAR button to clear any displayed data. You can READ an Alpha as many times as you want, but you can only ERASE the user data once after you READ it and SAVED it.

10. To close the program, use the QUIT command in the FILE MENU, or just the X in the upper right hand corner of the program window.
