Position Summary / The Educator will provide leadership, instruction and support in Family Consumer Sciences (FCS) and 4-H Youth Development educational programs for Madison County, Eastern District, and state programs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities / Develop partnerships that support and enhance county and district educational programs and research projects, and publish results in appropriate scholarly outlets.

Job Duties/Responsibilities / Provide leadership, instruction, and support for FCS Financial Management(55% of Outreach/Extension time), General FCS—food safety and health/nutrition (30% of Outreach/Extension time) and FCS-related 4-H Youth Development (15% of Outreach/Extension time) programs in Madison County, the Eastern Extension District, and the state. Work with advisory committees and conduct needs assessments to determine program priorities. Plan, develop, implement, evaluate and report impacts of these programs. Collaborate with appropriate state, district, and county faculty and participate in University of Idaho Extension planning teams. These programs will provide impact for a mix of rural and suburban audiences. The Educator will coordinate program efforts with the appropriate agencies, coalitions, associations, and organizations and will contribute to state programs. Programs will be delivered through classes, workshops, demonstrations, and other methods as appropriate. The Educator will provide assistance in university outreach where appropriate.

Job Duties/Responsibilities / Serve as the administrative chair of the Madison County Extension Office (10%). Maintain a good working relationship with the Madison County Board of Commissioners, provide supervision for county budget preparation and personnel and perform other chair duties as required.
Serve on University, College, Extension, district and community committees, boards and working groups as appropriate (5%).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications / •Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to Family and Consumer Sciences (Consumer Economics focus),Personal Finance, Extension Education, Adult Education or a closely related discipline (the required degree must be completed by the date of hire).
• Ability to organize and work with people.
• Computer literacy and good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to teach and lead group problem-solving and decision-making.
• Competence in using technology for program delivery, record keeping and reporting, and team-based communications.
• Ability to provide organizational structure and support for a variety of individuals and groups.
• Ability to recruit, teach, organize, and manage volunteer groups.
• Must be willing and able to travel and participate in evening and weekend programs.
Preferred Qualifications / • At least 3 years of experience in Extension Education and Family and Consumer Sciences (relevant experience acquired within the last 5 years preferred).
• Ability to work well in a team, provide effective leadership for Extension programming, and provide marketing and promotion for FCS Extension programs.
• Ability to adapt research materials for effective oral and written presentations.
• Experience in disseminating results through scholarly outlets.
• Supervisory experience and proven ability to lead and mentor others.
• Demonstrated skills in organization and management.
• Previous experience working with underserved, un-served and minority audiences.
• Knowledge of Hispanic culture and ability to communicate in Spanish, both orally and in writing.
