Brief Report

As a part of Institutional social responsibility K. L. E. SOCIETY’S S. NIJALINGAPPA college adopted the village ,K.G.Lakenahalli of Lakshmipurapanchayath on 05/04/2016 through CEO,BanashankariZillaPanchayat,Bangalore to conduct appropriate activities .K.G .Lakenahalli is a village situated in Bangalore North Taluk near Nelamangala .The college has planned to conduct a series of activities for the benefit of village population. Department of Biotechnology thought to work on malnutrition at K.G.Lakenahalli as the children and pregnant women from the village are reported for malnutrition issues as per data collected from ASHA and ANGANAWADI Activist.Therefore 10 students and one faculty from Biotechnology department worked on malnutrition at K.G.Lakenahalli .Students interacted with school children to evaluate their general health issues and hygiene. After interaction we eventually come to the conclusion that most of them were commonly prone to fever especially Dengue and Typhoid .Further our survey proceed into the village and K.L.E.S.N.C Biotechnology students interacted with village people. According to survey we found normal 48 children, Pregnant women 05 and 06 nursing mothers. During survey students checked village people height ,weight and Blood group .Most of village people are prone to fever ,back pain, knee pain and diabetes . Apart from above we found 2 malnutrition children when we checked their height and weight of the children. Hence we suggested them to drink boiled water,to keep the sourroundings clean and to consume nutritional food,which are rich in proteins,carbohydrates ,vitamins and minerals.Also planning to supply spirulina in appropriate dosage in concern with specialised person(our next programme). The survey was conducted by 10 studentsAnusha.M,Anjana.M,Megha.N,Gowrish.P,Gagan.N,Puneeta.S.D,SamuelAnand,Sahana.H.T,Bhagya.S and Pallavi and also by Dr.Prathibha.K.S H.O.D Biotechnology,Co-ordinator of adopted village.With the support and co operation of village people and Head master of K.G.Lakenahalli we successfully completed our survey.The interaction were in kannada for the benefit of students and People of village. The students and staff expressed satisfaction about the activity.
