Exporting TMS Phone Books

Goal:

Export the “Jabber” phone book source from TMS to a txt file. This can then be later imported as a “File Based Phone Book” to any TMS or stored as a backup.

As per the process outlined in the above Cisco Support Forums link, you will need to create a blank text file on your PC i.e. “Provisioning Users Source.txt”

Log into the TMS Application (TMS > Phone Books > Manage Phone Book Sources) and click “New”. Create a name (i.e. Provisioning Users Export Source) and select type: “File based Phone Book”, then click “Save”

Next click “Browse” and navigate to the “Provisioning Users Source.txt” text file we manually created on your local PC

Once located, click “Upload”

Next click “Save”

Now you can Remote Desktop into TMS and you will see this file located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\TANDBERG\TMS\wwwTMS\data\ExternalSourceFiles

Now navigate to (TMS > Phone Books > Manage Phone Books) and click “New”.

Provide a name (i.e. Provisioning Users Export), then click “Save”

Next click on “Connect”

Select the phone book source you want to export i.e. “Jabber” and the phone book source you created a moment ago i.e. “Provisioning Users Export”. For “Provisioning Users Export”, select “Import to TMS and Export to Phone Book Source” from the drop-down menu. Then click on “ok”

You will see both showing “Connecting”

After a few moments (every 5 min), the phone book should update under (TMS > Phone Books > Phone Book Sources Activity Status)

If you switch back to the TMS Remote Desktop session, you will see the “Provisioning Users Source.txt” file has updated from “0KB” to “3KB”. If you open the file, you will now see the phone book entries from the “Jabber” phone book source we wanted to export.
