EXPLORING THE PERIODIC TABLE INDEX CARD
1. You will draw for an element from the periodic table to research. You will be given one class to gather information and then two days to complete it.
2. Find the following information:
q Name
q Symbol
q Atomic number
q Atomic mass
q Group number
q Period number
q When was it discovered
q Who discovered it
q Historical fact
q Characteristics of element:
§ How is this element used?
§ Where is this element found on earth?
§ How it reacts with other elements?
§ In what state is the element found on earth?
§ One physical property
§ One chemical property
3. Using a recipe card and the model below, create an information card suitable to mount on our bulletin board.
a) On the blank side and creating a rectangle taller than it is wide:
i. Put the element symbol in large, bold print in the center of the card
ii. Print the full name of the element at the top center
iii. Put atomic number in top center under the name but above the symbol
iv. Put atomic mass in bottom center under the symbol
b) On the lined back side:
i. Put all other information in jot note form
ii. Print your name and class in the bottom right corner
