Explorers of Canada Hall of Fame Project

Your explorer is eligible to be elected to the Explorers of Canada Hall of Fame. This is a fictional hall that will be opening soon. Now, it’s your chance to show everyone why your explorer belongs in the Hall.

Your job is to produce a package of information to convince the members of the Hall that your explorer should be selected.

Your package should include one or more of the following items full of great information about your Explorer:

1) A Poster

2) A skit/videa

3) Power Point Presentation

4A booklet with a title page

5) Another package idea (to be discussed with your teacher).

Whatever form you choose, your package should include important facts and the main reasons your explorer is in the Hall, such as:

- Place of birth, dates of birth and death,

- Country explored for

- Dates of voyage(s)

- Purpose of voyage(s)

- Results of voyage(s)

- adventures and/or problems before, during or after voyage(s)

- description of interaction with natives, if there was any (either positive or negative)

- A map showing the route of the voyage(s).

- A picture or drawing of your explorer (if available).

Finally, sum up with the main reason(s) your explorer should be in the Hall of Fame. This may have to repeat some key information from the other top ten items.

Research your topic at school and at home. Some class time will be provided. Research resources include books, encyclopedia, etc. from the school library and public library, computer encyclopedia and internet web sites. A list of helpful web sites will be posted on our class web site.

Due Date: Friday, March 12, 2010 (14 school days allotted for this project)
