Grades

  • Outside of class practice (10 %of quarter grade)

Independent practice is assigned well in advance. It is written on the board and posted on my website/Schoology. I also remind the students about it daily and have them write it in their planner. Most independent practice is taken up for a grade.

  • Assessment of student learning (50% of quarter grade)

Tests reflect what has been learned (and how well I have taught) in the current chapter. In addition, since languages are comprehensive, students should review previous chapters. Tests are assigned well in advance. It is written on the board and posted on my website/Schoology. I also remind the students about it daily and have them write it in their planner.

  • Practice in the class room/small assessments (40% of quarter grade)

Class work is the daily practice of the Spanish language. This practice includes the usage of several types of exercises: learning current vocabulary and grammar. I randomly take up class work for a grade to ensure student progress in the language.

Quizzes are assigned well in advance. It is written on the board and posted on my website/Schoology. I also remind the students about them daily and have them write quiz dates in their planner. All quizzes are taken up for a grade.

Classroom participation includes listening intently, speaking in Spanish to the best of your ability, reading in Spanish, writing in Spanish, volunteering frequently, responding to a Spanish command (for example: Escribetunombre = Write your name.) Students will also be working in cooperative learning groups.
