This is a volunteer internship role working closely with the Special Events Manager to help develop and deliver the charity’s Special Events portfolio. The postholder will assist with specific projects within the portfolio, gaining experience of how to effectively research, plan and deliver successful events.

Knowledge of the charity sector and insight into how a small/medium sized charity operates

Experience in planning and delivering events

Training on and regular use of Raiser’s Edge, the industry standard CRM system

A good basis of fundraising skills

Experience of how to effectively research and produce event management and marketing plans

Experience of providing excellent supporter care

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong administrative skills including Microsoft Office

Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers at events

First hand experience of attending a variety of fundraising events

Duties and responsibilities:List all the requirements for the volunteer in this role, please list in order of important
  • Support the Special Events Manager in planning and delivering the Special Events programme, including attending events periodically
  • Offering regular support to events fundraisers by email and telephone, from initial enquiry to event follow up
  • Thanking events fundraisers by telephone, email and letter, ensuring they receive a high quality and timely response
  • Researching marketing opportunities and creating a strong marketing plan for specific events, supported by the Special Events Manager
  • Assist the Special Events Manager in monitoring the development of selected events through event performance reports
  • Building good working relationships with the wider Child Bereavement UK team and its supporters
  • Assist the Special Events Manager with administrative duties
  • Maintain accurate records on the Raiser’s Edge database by regularly inputting tasks and data and using the Event Management module
  • Researching and profiling of event guests
