Packing List

Luggage:

  • Bring one small carry-on bag (back pack) and one medium-sized bag to check. Make sure your checked bag has wheels and does not exceed 45 lbs.

Packing Suggestions:

  • Some class material
  • Journal/Notebook
  • Portfolios
  • Camera and extra batteries
  • Any medications you require (Dramamine can help on the flight).Make sure you bring enough medicine for the duration on the trip. Dramamine can also help for bus rides if you are prone to motion sickness. You may also want to have some Imodium or chewable antacid.
  • ElectricityConverter/Adapters (Radio Shack is a great place to find one of these)
  • All the countries that we will visit are on a 230 volt standard. Many electronic devices will accept both 120 (U.S.) and 230 and will require only an adapter. Check your devices to make sure. Other devices such as a hair dryer will require both a converter and an adapter.
  • Leak-proof storage bottles for shampoo, etc. (Must be 3 fl. Oz. or lessand must fit in a quart-size Ziploc bagfor carry-on.)
  • Empty water bottle /snacks for while on the flights(jerky, licorice, crackers etc.).
  • Hand sanitizer/ sun screen
  • Ear plugs
  • Powder laundry detergent ( in a double zip-lock bag)
  • Rain coat/poncho and a light jacket. Highs in Switzerland will be in the 50’s and 60’s.
  • Vitamin C (Start taking a week before the trip)
  • Neck pouch/passport bag
  • Travel tissues
  • Leave room in your bag for souvenirs, you shouldn’t leave for the tour with your bags stuffed
  • Pack lightly, you will be carrying everything yourself, sometimes for considerable distances.
  • Girls-Sanitary Napkins and necessary supplies
  • Rolling clothes is a good way to make more room in your luggage.

Clothing:

  • Observe BYU-I Standards
  • Layer clothing (shirt, sweater/sweatshirt, windbreaker)
  • No shorts (except for at the beach)
  • Bring clothing that can dry out quickly
  • Wrinkle-free would be best (irons will be available in some hotels)
  • Flip-flops for showers
  • Swimsuit
  • Max of 2 pairs of shoes (one casual-comfy for walking, one business)putting socks inside shoes gives you more room in the luggage.
  • Business attire
  • Guys: 2-3 dress shirts, ties, wrinkle-free slacks
  • Girls: 2-3 blouses, wrinkle free skirt (that falls to the knees)
