EXORCISING EVIL THOUGHTS, #6

10-12-08

(Luke 8:10) And he said, Unto you[the saved, born-again] it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others[the unsaved] in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

(Luke 8:11,12) Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the way side[by the side of the road] are they that hear; then cometh the devil[Satan, the fowls, the wicked one, the fowls of the air], and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

(Luke 8:13) They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root[because of the hardness, the resistance, of their heart-mind], which for a while believe, and in time of temptation[Gk: testing]fall away[Gk: to remove, i.e. instigate to revolt.; to desist, desert:--depart, draw away, refrain, withdraw self].

(Luke 8:14) And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked[Gk: strangled completely /// taken by the throat] with cares[Gk: distractions] and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection [Gk: to completion].

(Luke 8:15) But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it[Gk: to hold (fast):--have, keep (in memory), possess, retain, seize on], andbring forth fruit with patience.

HOW DO WE GET RID OF THE EVIL THOUGHTS THAT ARE FALLEN ANGELS (MESSENGERS)

WHO HAVE TAKEN UP RESIDENCE IN OUR MINDS?

Commentary:In the field of your heart-mind,the termstony ground,which issynonymous with “strong holds” (1) and “on the rock,” and the term among thorns represent evil thoughts, i.e., fallen angels. Given the understanding and the choice, most folks would really rather not walk around with fallen angels, demons, in their mind. But how does one remove evil thoughts, fallen angels,from the mind? We don’t, God does. However, in preparation for the wonderful work of God’s Holy Spirit of exorcising (2) [syn: getting rid of, getting free of, banishing, driving out, forcing out, expelling] these evil thoughts (3), one must be willing to intelligently reconsider (repent) one’s existing thoughts in the light of the authority of new evidence, that is, in the illuminating Light of God’s Word, God’s good thoughts, God’s Holy thoughts, the Holy Bible (4,5,6). One must willingly take in God’s good Holy angels, God’s new thoughts, through the eye and ear gates, and then assimilate, embrace, and integrate the new thoughts in harmonious agreement and accord with the higher thoughts of the God(7), by either correcting partial truths or discarding altogether the old evil thoughts, and therebyto think differently(repent) about all things, as a new creature in Christ Jesus, to think like Christ Jesus, to think like God. There are no fallen angels in the fullness of the mind of Christ; there areno fallen angels in heaven;and ultimately, there will be no fallen angels in you.

  1. (2 Cor 10:4,5) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down ofstrong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience[infers something alive that has the power of disobedience] of Christ;
  2. strong holds = Gk: (mean. to fortify); a castle (fig. argument):--stronghold.
  3. exorcise = Dictionary: 1. to seek to expel (an evil spirit) by adjuration or religious or solemn ceremonies. 2. to deliver (a person, place, etc.) from evil spirits or malignant influences.
