OPERATIONS ORDER

EXERCISE “Operation Weasel Tail”

Timings: All times local

SITUATION

1. 822 Tutor Squadron will participate in a winter field exercise.

MISSION

2. The exercise will be conducted from 20 January 17 to 22 January 17. The aim is to:

a. Raise Morale and Esprit de Corps;

b. Promote cadet interest in Canada’s Military.Teach cadets proper use and care of military winter survival gear

c. Show cadets how to function in a winter environmentsurvive outdoors in a winter environment

EXECUTION

3. a. General Outline:

This Exercise will be carried out in four phases:

(1)  Phase 1 commencing prior to 1800 hrs, 20 January 2017 – Administrative Preparation for the exercise.

(2)  Phase 2 s arrive acommencing 1800 hrs, Friday, 20 January 2017 and ending at 1300 hrs, 22 January 2017 – Conduct of the ExerciseTravel from CYDC to Camp Heidelberg

(3)  Phase 3 commencing 1300 hrs, Sunday, 22 January14 and ending 2100 hrs, 4 February 2017- Return of stores and administrative completion of the exericseTravel from Camp Heidelberg to CYDC

b. Taskings: - Annex A;

c. Nominal Roll - Cadets - Annex B;

d. Training Objectives - Annex C; and

SERVICE SUPPORT

4. a. Rations and Quarters - Annex D;

b. Transportation - Annex E;

c. Stores Request - Annex F;

d. Conduct - Annex G;

e. Environmental Stewardship

(1)  Cadets and staff will follow best practices for the duration of this exercise.

(2)  Only deadfall will be utilized during the course of this exercise for any tasks including fire starting or shelter building.

(3)  Vehicles will be parked only in the designated lot at the Camp entrance Should there be an usual requirement to park in another spot, a drip pan will be placed underneath the vehicle.

(4)  All POL products will be dispensed over a drip pan to prevent spillage.

(5)  An environmental spill kit will be brought on the exercise should a large spillage happen.

d. Medical Evacuation Plan - Annex H; and

f.  Quarters

(1)  Cadets will be housed indoors for the duration of the exercise.

(2)  Separate male and female quarters will be available within the Camp Bel building.

(3)  No winter tenting is available or has been requested.

g.  Fire Safety

(1)  Fire extinguisher is located within the main building of Camp Bel

(2)  Should a fire be detected, the alarm will be sounded.

(3)  No Cadet is to attempt to fight a fire. Fire pit exempted with staff supervision.

(4)  At the call of “fire fire fire” all cadets will meet outside the main building in the parking lot for roll call.

(5) 

(6)  No fire will be started outside designated fire pits at Camp Bel. When started within a fire pit, a spade shovel and a water can will be present to control the fire.

h.  Medical

a.  Cadets shall have their health card with them at all times.

b.  All staff and cadets who are first aid qualified will be identified at an O group on the previous Wednesday evening.

c.  A first aid kit will be located at the exercise headquarters on site (brought from CYDC).

d.  Any injury that requires more than rudimentary first aid will be brought to the Victoria Hospital, London, ON for treatment.

e.  A route card will be available with the First Aid kit and in the safety vehicle.

i.  Safety

(1)  Any person who witnesses an unsafe activity must bring it to the attention of the perpetrator and correct them immediately. Afterwards, all incidents must be reported to an officer.

(2)  A vehicle must be designated as the safety vehicle at all times. This vehicle may change but while it is designated, it must have its keys in an accessible location and a route card to Victoria Hospital inside it.
