Role Profile – English as Foreign Language (EFL) Lecturer

Salary: Hourly paid based on the ncn harmonised scale points system

Cluster: Higher Education and International

Accountable to: Head of International Delivery

Primary Purpose: Teaching on EFL year round programmes

Location: ncn College sites: Adams

Overview of responsibilities

·  Deliver excellent teaching and learning on EFL all year round programmes.

·  Develop schemes of work and teaching materials for the associated course level.

·  Plan and deliver lessons (ensuring liaison with teaching colleagues where required).

·  Marking students’ work as required.

·  Participate successfully in all Quality Team led Teaching and Learning Observations to ensure the teams’ annual quality target is met.

·  Maintain a tidy, well-presented classroom, ensuring all resources are locked away in the classroom cabinets and all electrical appliances are switched off at the end of each lesson.

·  All classrooms and notice boards are appropriately used and decorated.

·  Ensure that materials used from the staffroom resources are replaced accurately and appropriately.

·  Enhance the employability skills of ncn EFL year round (and Summer School) students by developing their English language skills for use in education, as well as current and future employment.

Student Management/Welfare

·  Liaise with the Course Leader where there are concerns about a student’s classroom placement/development.

·  Advise/liaise with the Course Leader as to the appropriate classroom placement of students.

·  If there are concerns about a student raise these with:

o  the Course Leader, or

o  in the case of welfare issues, the Personal Success & Welfare Coach in the International Academy

Administration

·  Timely and accurate marking of registers, including liaison with the EFL Administrative Team when required

·  Assist the School with attendance strategies to ensure the student attendance targets are met.

·  Keeping timely and accurate class records to aid communication between colleagues.

·  Completing E-ILP student reports each term.

·  Completing student tutorials (on E-ILP) each term.

·  Ensuring all materials necessary for present and future team work and associated lessons are placed into the Nottingham English folder.

·  All health and safety related information is given when required.

·  Be an active participant in all team meetings, as well as bringing new ideas to the fore that may help the team’s retail products develop.

·  Collaborate with ncn colleagues to deliver an excellent Nottingham English School experience for international students.

·  Collaborate with EFL learners and group leaders to ensure that learners have an excellent experience.

·  Collaborate with colleagues in developing, implementing and evaluating innovative strategies to enhance the student experience at ncn.

·  Participate in other activities and duties necessary to support the running and development of the programme.

·  Share good practice and resources via discussion and the use of the Nottingham English School folder.

·  Share good practice via peer reviews.

General responsibilities:
