Advanced Art
About this Class: The focus of this course is going to be strengthening perception of what is and how to create art. THE PROCESS. Yep, sometimes it’s not fun. We use a wide range of materials to create art that one may not think to use. We dive deeper into the concept of making art with meaning. At this time you are to think of creating art for a purpose, provoke thought and feeling.
Examples of Work: In Advanced Art we will use recycled materials, earthenware clay, printmaking, glass, pencil, paints and much more. You will create pottery pieces, social advocacy pieces, masks, shirts etc. The majority of work in this course should be original, with a few assignments being reproductions.
Grading: I understand that not everyone has a divine gift in the arts and I will NOTbe grading on talent. Each student will be graded to their ability. I will give each assignment a set of criteria I expect everyone to reach. If you reach everything I ask of you with 110% effort you should score very well.
Homework:
1.) You may be asked to bring something outside of class for a project, (picture, material, etc.) you will be given a few days notice of when you need such items.
2.) IF you can not complete a project within time frame, you may need to take work home to finish before due date.
Assignments: You will be given a certain number of days to complete an assignment. Majority of those days are class time, so use your time wisely. If you cannot make a due date, it is YOUR responsibility to talk to me and make other arrangements. Points from the assignment will be lost for everyday it is late. Once an assignment is two weeks late, I will no longer accept it. If you wish to make up the points, an alternative assignment will be given.

ART CLASSROOM PROCEDURES
Be to class on time.
Have the things you need for class. Do not leave work in locker/locker room. Be sure to swing by there first before coming to class.

Grades are based on effort and ability to follow criteria.
Be sure to clean up your area/classroom at the end of the day.
