Review of study tips for Circuits I:
l Attitude of learning:
Establish a correct attitude of learning, the exam is the way to help us to figure out which concept that we still confused. The purpose of learning is to fully understand all concepts and know how to use them. No matter what your grade you get, never give up.
l The method what I learn:
1. Before the class, preview materials and write down confused parts. Bring the questions to class.
2. After class, review all the materials in time to familiar with the basic concepts.
3. Practice similar problems
4. Make a summary of each chapter for the future review.
l understand materials:
1. Listen carefully in class, front seat is always good way to help me to follow professor, take notes selectively, and write down the points which you do not understand.
2. Solve the problems or confused parts in time.
3. Use differentresources to learn. Not only professor can help us, but also the tutors in tutoring centers, tutorials on YouTube and other media sources to help us to understand materials.
l Homework:
1. Before starting doing homework, go through related materials.
2. After getting the feedback, figure out which part was incorrect, and understand how to correct them.
l Review for exam
1. Review all materials from the summary which was made by end of the each chapter.
2. Review the homework problems, especially for the incorrect problems.
3. Combined the review examples in class, practice similar problems.
As my opinion, the most important for learning is to set up the correct learning method. Everyone may has different methods. My method is preview , make summary , practice, focus on incorrect problems.
1. Preview can improve learning efficiency and quality
Preview is a very good way to improve my learning efficiency. I find that if I spend 20mins before class to preview concepts which will be covered in class, I can save at least one hour to understand materials after class. For me, come to class bring the questions, easier for me to understand the materials.
2. The summary makes me clearer about concepts.
The summary is very important for me. The summary what I made is not only about the materials, but also the typical problems which I met from textbook, professor’s examples and homework.
I have couple reasons let me keep summarizing. The first one is make summary can help me to organize the whole chapter materials, it makes me easier to figure out the relationship between different concepts. The second reason is that the summary make easier for me to prepare each exam.
3. The practice makes me more confidence
I occurred some situations when I took circuit course. The first one is I totally understand each step professor explained, but when I try to start to solve one problem, I have no idea where I can start and how can I start. The second is that one problem took me too much time, so I do not have enough time to double check the answer is correct or not, especial when I was taking exam.
The reason I have two situation is that I do not have enough practice. So when I saw a question, my mind need to take a long time to figure out which concept I can use to solve particular problems. So more practice, more familiar with all formulas, more familiar with the way to analyze circuits. More practice can make me more comfortable.
4. Incorrect problems are useful.
In my opinion, the problems what I did wrong are more important than problems I did right. Because when I did some problems wrong, it should have some concepts that I haven’t got yet. So the problems I did wrong can help me figure out which part I do not understood completely. So I always focus on the problems I did wrong.
The last thing I want to share is keep interest and never giver up. That is the motivation of learning.
