Examples of Hamlet Soliloquy Assignment:

To Play or Not to Play
by Mike Hall

To play or not to play
Whether it's nobler in the mind to suffer
Than to be in pain on the court
Or suck it up and play
And by defeating your adversary, to pain: to swell
No more; and by the pain bring happiness and end the
tournament, and the annoyance of qualifying
If we dare lose, or win the final point
Which we need so badly. To pain: to swell
To swell: the torn muscles filling with fluid; that's the problem
For the agony of walking in the days to come
When we have ended this hour long suffering
Must give us pleasure: we've gained respect
The craziness that has made this game so long:
Who would bare the days of pain for a mere game
The coach is wrong, a competitor would play,
The love for the pained game, the mind's delay,
The insolence of the opponent,
When he chooses a game over his health,
Who would not call him dedicated, who would face hell only to play,
To grunt and sweat during agonizing hits and blocks,
But to be afraid of pain when this is done,
And to learn something about themselves,
The love of sport in the heart, and the beauty of the game,
What an easy decision to make,
A captain always, always leads the pack carrying the heaviest load,
And that's what I must do.

To pick, or not to pick: that is the question:
by David Hoffman
These ooey, gooey and sometimes chewy demons
that lurk deep within our nasal cavities, pester us to
many extremes. To rid ourselves of these abominations
can bring on a sense of satisfaction that can only
be rivaled by some climax of the sexual sort. But
these nasal dwellers do not depart with ease. To
evacuate them we are left with but two methods,
manual or conventional. To launch an appendage
up into the depths of my smell device is perhaps the
easiest and most proficient. To pick, to scratch and
finally to tear that beast away from his home is an
art that each of us has practiced since adolescence.
But sadly as we mature the monster that I call
society teaches us that this is wrong and we forget.
Individuals who chose his path are often met with
obstacles; Where to place the fallout and how will
their actions be met by our peers. To be laughed at,
to be humiliated, to suffer the names and avoidance
can break even the strongest. So then we the weak are
left with the conventional option. To follow the norm
and allow our force to discard our projectiles into a
cushiony tissue, which provides zero amusement. The
topic is much debated, however I believe that I shall do
it my own way which will bring happiness from within.
So I say shame to those who will mock me for regardless
I will force my index deep into my two mysterious
caverns and enjoy the different shades of yellow, green
and gray that fallow.
To Light a Flaming Bag of Poo or to Not Light a Flaming Bag of Poo
by Michael Cogan

To light a flaming bag of poo or to not light a flaming bag of poo,
that is the question.
Whether it's wiser to stay out of trouble or enjoy a casual laugh,
there are consequences and benefits to this situation.
You may need to undergo a chase by the person who caught you with the poo or
your parents may happen to get involved, these situations and others may occur.
However, if the situation is successful, laughter will be involved,
and many situations may arise.
Your target may scream at the flame followed by a slammed door,
which then attracts peeps through closed curtains.
Laughter will then become your friend for this good time,
and maybe you'll get the gullible kind who think...
ooh a flame I must stomp it out with my foot,
which is when you've succeeded in making your neighbour's foot all poopy.
This is the case in which you have hoped for and the reason why you took the risk.
So to end off this question I must ask one last thing,
who is it that supplies the poo?

To Laugh or not to Laugh
by Chris Power

To laugh or not to laugh
Whether to laugh with or at someone is the question
To laugh with someone
Is to show an expression of a happy nature
And to invoke this feeling in others
To laugh at someone
Is an expression of a sinister nature
To invoke feelings of humiliation and degradation
To laugh is the choice of the beholder
To choose is to know one's true nature.

To slack or not to slack
by Courtney Fossett

To slack or not to slack,
That is the question.
Not to slack is to get all the work done
And out of the way
No matter how much you'd rather be doing something else.
After it's all done
You can relax and do more fun things
Without the stress and worries of knowing you'll probably be up all night
trying to get it done.
To slack is to forget about the work which needs to get done
And for you now to enjoy life,
Meanwhile saying to yourself "I'll do it later."
But later never comes and the work doesn't get done,
and now there is a problem
In which the consequences are severe because you just might end up
Back in high school
For another year.
