About Us- What is Everyday Law / This tab will provide a description and aims of the Everyday Law course. It will be worded in simple English language to be accessible to the reader without any legal jargon or teminology
Let’s get started / Introduction to Civil & Criminal Law
Objective: The Learner may become familiar with the differences
The Players in the legal system / What is a Prosecutor?
What is a Defence?
What is a charge?
What does the Judge do?
Let’s talk about proving a case
Objective: Learners will be introduced to the workings and people involved in a case
A Murder case / Definition of murder
How do we prove a murder charge?
Examples
A Manslaughter case / Definition of Manslaughter
How do we prove a manlaugher charge?
Examples
Let’s be lawyers!/Activities / Learners will complete a short multiple answer quiz to examine the murder and manslaughter principles
A short video will be played where learners will have the opportunity to pick out the differences
The missing evidence procedural quiz – what is missing in these charges? A short case study type quiz
Review / Typical areas where learners find difficulty will be revisited before the main assessement
Assessment / Join the Discussion forum with your peers and create a short murder mystery. Interact with your peers to look for clues and technicalities.
This will be continued in the real life class where the learners will engage in a mock courtroom set up in groups playing the role of Judge, Jury, Prosecutor & Defender
Quiz results will be discussed in the live class
