Military Ball Code of Conduct

The purpose of this document is to establish the standards of conduct that will be expected of all JROTC cadets and their guests at the Military Ball. The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity for the high school students in JROTC to experience and participate in a Military style ball. Although this event may be thought of by some as a substitute for the Prom, it is very different. In order to uphold the long standing traditions of the “Dining Out,” a certain level of etiquette and decorum must be observed. Inappropriate conduct and behavior not befitting of the uniforms of the armed forces of the United States can never be tolerated and the Military Ball is no exception.

All attendees are asked to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. The following guidelines are provided to assist in clarifying what is not appropriate.

No prolonged displays of affection. Hugging or kissing is considered displays of affection.

Uniforms will be worn in a dignified manner and in accordance with uniform regulations at all times. Uniform items will not be removed or altered in any way or worn in anyway not in accordance with uniform regulations.

Civilian attire will be tasteful and appropriate to the occasion. Although the normal school dress codes will be relaxed somewhat the standards for modesty shall be strictly adhered too. Female attire will not be too revealing. Male civilian attire will be fitting for wear to a Military Ball (a coat and tie is the minimum).

While dancing, simulated sex acts WILL NOT be tolerated. Sexual gestures, touching each other in a sexual way WILL NOT be tolerated. If an instructor or chaperone has to ask an attendee more than once to correct their behavior they will be asked to leave.

Any other behavior deemed inappropriate by an instructor will be brought to the attention of the attendees one time and one time only. Second warnings will result in being dismissed from the Ball.

Ladies and Gentlemen the Military Ball is a time honored tradition and is intended to be a very elegant and formal affair. The rules for conduct set forth herein are meant only to establish the proper standards that will insure everyone has a good time at the ball and upholds the expected level of good order and discipline.

I have read and understand what is expected of me and my quest at the Military Ball.
