EURO-Leasing sets new telematics standards in the rental business
Telematics solution identifies savings potential in fleets and
increases vehicle availability
EURO-Leasing GmbH, a unit of MAN Finance, presents an up-to-date telematics offering that is independent of manufacturer. This solution will be available from mid-July and will enable rental customers to ascertain savings potential in their fleets and take the necessary measures for improvement right away. Sales and Technology Director Marcus Burmeister has this to say: "Our telematics solution optimises the flow of information and customer service. Seamless vehicle monitoring not only reduces fuel costs but in a practically oriented manner also records cost drivers such as waiting times on the ramps during loading and unloading."
Moreover, route planning now allows for the improved coordination of workshop stops, meaning that idle times due to servicing and repair can be minimised or even avoided. This guarantees the highest levels of vehicle availability for hauliers, freight forwarders and logisticians, thus optimising their fleet management. The new offering comes in conjunction with uniform tariffs applicable throughout Europe, which can be flexibly activated and deactivated.
A further advantage of the new telematics solution is its ease of handling and operation. This begins with activation: when vehicles are rented, the customers receive an e-mail with an activation link and can immediately log into the newly designed MAN Rental/EURO-Leasing telematics portal, register and activate their vehicles. The individual vehicle data is then available within 24 hours. Activation and deactivation are both free of charge.
Burmeister adds: "The telematics fees are itemised separately in the monthly rental invoice. A great advantage for customers is that they can decide for themselves whether they want to make use of our telematics offering and if so, for how long (starting from a period of one month). This is completely independent of the rental agreement and without risk. In addition, they benefit from the six years of solid know-how that we have gathered in the field of telematics rental since 2007."
The data of the rental vehicles (motorised units/semi-trailers/trailers) can be accessed by the customer around the clock in the MAN Rental/EURO-Leasing portal, independent of manufacturer. Thanks to cooperation with the neutral telematics platform NIC-base, hauliers can if required also access the data on their entire fleets (all makes).
This comprises momentary vehicle locations as well as data from the electronic braking system (EBS), the refrigeration equipment and the vehicle management system (VMS). This means that all temperature data is continually monitored and recorded in compliance with statutory regulations. The telematics of the "Pharmaliner", the new, certified offering from MAN Rental/EURO-Leasing, ensures that the temperature is checked uninterruptedly (including anti-theft options and route monitoring) and thus meets all the requirements for certification for pharmaceutical transport acceptance. The default interval for notification is 15 minutes with shorter intervals possible if required.
The scope of service includes the following: data on the current location and the route of the trip, depicted on a digital map, data concerning temperatures and refrigeration equipment, information on speeds during each transmission cycle, information on the condition and energy consumption of the batteries as well as status messages concerning the semi-trailer's portal doors.
Active alarm messages result from the monitoring of geo-circles, the opening of doors, refrigeration equipment data (setpoint, operating mode, etc.), temperature sensors installed in the body of the vehicle and the coupling status (hitched/unhitched). In the framework of a vehicle list, all units can be administered at vehicle level, geo-circles set up and alarms activated/deactivated and assigned to groups of vehicles.
